Daniel 3:16-18 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego replied to the king. “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer concerning this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But even if he does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”
The king had built an idol and declared that everyone was to worship it. Anyone refusing to do so would be destroyed by fire. Then enter 3 men Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. They trusted God the one and only true God. They refused to bow the knee to this image declaring that there is only one God. They said that God would deliver them and that Even if He didn’t they would not worship the image that the king set up.
It makes me wonder, we may not have a dictator telling us to bow down to, or then again do we?
When we let tv, food, lust or envy (to name a few) control us are we not worshipping a false God? When we let the world influence our decisions pertaining to sexuality, government, and behavior etc…. Are we not then indeed worshipping the world and the false ideas that it portrays of lying, sexuality and cursing?…
Is not doing anything the same as bowing the knee? Have we become so lax about things that we no longer cry out to the Lord for a change, for Him to send a revival?
His word says my people perish for a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Let’s tear down the wall of indifference and make a change. Prayer changes things because it puts God first exactly where He needs to be. Commandment number 1 says there are to be no other gods before Him.
Be honest and start asking the Lord if there is anything that has kept you from knowing the truth. Is there anything keeping you from God? Ask Him to reveal it to you. When He does repent (say you are sorry and walk away).
There are many things God can do in and through you and I but we have to lay down anything that He reveals to us that would separate us from Him.
We need to start digging in our bibles. The exact living and True word of God holds all of the answers that we need for every situation, circumstance or learning that we may have.
We need to look intently at our own lives and determine our own Even if. Things like Even if everyone else is doing, saying, wearing, acting, behaving the way that we know by the reading of His word is wrong, that we will not bow. Even if they all bend the knee that we will not worship any other gods. We will only worship the one true God. The God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, the only One who can, not only set us free, but also walk with us keeping us safe in our own personal fires. He is trustworthy people. Our God is praiseworthy. He can and will transform our lives if we surrender it to Him. Let Him be your way maker today and every day. Walk in the fullness of His love.
God bless,
Your sister in Christ,
Donna Marie
Pray with me please,
Father God,
We thank You for Your word. Thank You that You are always there and ever mindful of us. Thank You that our sins are rolled away. Thank You for the atoning blood sacrifice of Jesus. You are so worthy of our praise. You have our hearts. Please continue to mold and make us into vessels that are fit for Kingdom use. We need You and we bow to Jesus alone Whom You sent to save us. We say He is Lord of our lives and we thank You for Him. In His name we pray. Amen.
If you do not know Jesus but would like to know more about Him, please read the following blog titled, You Never Let Us Go. God bless. https://thefathersfeet.wordpress.com/2020/01/07/you-never-let-us-go/
Great post, Donna Marie. There are some things that take up too much of my headspace and that I need to get rid of.
Way Maker is one of my favourite songs. ☺
