John 4:34-38 NIV “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”
Revelation 3:15-22 NASB ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”
James 1:22 NIV Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Hebrews 4:12-13 NIV For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NASB All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
Receive, Reflect and Respond
It is not enough to receive God’s word or even reflect, we must respond to Him. The only way to do that is open our Bibles. That is where we will have clear direction.
Let me give you an example. Let’s say someone gives you a check for a million dollars (wouldn’t that be cool lol). Ok, so, you would receive it, right? What if you just put the check in your sock drawer and just thought about how nice it was. It wouldn’t do you much good there, would it? It isn’t until you receive it, think about taking it to the bank, then you actually do it. That’s where the payday is. All three steps are necessary. If you didn’t receive it, you couldn’t take anything to the bank because you didn’t have anything. If you didn’t think about taking it to the bank it might stay there forever rendering it useless to you. See how we need to do all three things?
God’s word is the same. God’s word is the greatest gift anyone could ever get. God’s word is the greatest instruction to follow. His word is the Way to approach this life.
His word is power, wisdom, freedom, strength, direction, unstoppable, active, living, sharper than any 2 edged sword, God-breathed, flawless and here from the beginning of time. Just to name a few things. This is by no means an all inclusive list. I am still finding new things myself about who God is and what He wants for me to do.
The only being, entity, that we make happy when we don’t apply and move in the direction that God’s word says is the enemy. Let’s not make him happy any more. We need to go about as we are, children of the most high God, with the sword of the Spirit (His word) hidden in our hearts and active in our lives.
God bless you all, my brothers and sisters, in Christ.
Please pray the following with me
Your name is power. Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory. You hold everything in Your hands. You are awesome, holy and all-powerful. You are our King of kings and Lord of lords. You are the great I AM. Nothing is too difficult for You. We praise and exalt You.
Thank You, Lord, for this day, another opportunity to come before Your precious throne and appeal to You. We ask You to help us move in the direction and calling that You have for us. We also ask that we would make time for You first of all. Help us to be obedient to Your word. As we open our Bibles help us to apply the words to our lives. Change us, Lord God, from the inside out. There is nothing impossible for You. Be glorified in our lives. For we pray in Jesus name. Amen.
