Psalm 119:4 KJV Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
God has commanded us to keep His rules in His word diligently. Diligently means in a way that shows care. So how do we act when we care about something? We deliberate on it. We desire to do something to please the other party. So putting God first is a great way to show Him we care. Learning His word is another way to show Him we value Him.
Psalm 119:5 NASB Oh that my ways may be established To keep Your statutes!
Oh I wish my road in life was completely committed to protecting, guarding and studying God’s word. Sometimes we get off the beaten path. We act like Peter. (Matthew 14:24-31) Lord, if it’s really You bid me to come…so He does and we go to Him. We walk along pretty good for a while but then something happens, a storm comes and just like Peter we start to sink. Then what happens? The Bible says IMMEDIATELY Jesus reached out and saved Peter. As soon as he cried out for help.
We get our eyes off the Lord sometimes when problems or situations arise in our lives. But be of good cheer, our God has overcome this world. (John 16:33) There is nothing that you or I could go through that God wouldn’t reach down and save us. There is no catastrophe, problem, nothing in all creation, there is nothing that could prevent Him from reaching out for us (Romans 8:38-39). All we have to do is cry out for Him. Cry out in our wilderness. Cry out in our loneliness. Cry out in our depression. Cry out in our insecurities. Cry out in our seclusion. Cry out in our desperation. Cry out, Lord save me. God is faithful and just like He did with Peter, His hand will be there to pull us out.
Psalm 119:6-8 NASB Then I shall not be ashamed When I look upon all Your commandments. I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments. I shall keep Your statutes; Do not forsake me utterly!

Lord God,
You are so amazing and faithful. Thank You Lord that You are growing us nearer to You through putting You first and the study of Your word. Your word is true. Thank You that You are always there to help Your children. Thank You that Your arm is not too short to reach down and save us. (Isaiah 59:1) No matter where we are or what we are going through. Your great love finds us. Help us, Lord, to keep our eyes on Jesus. If we have let any care or concern of this world cloud our vision we ask You to remove it. Help us to see You, to know Your will and walk in Your way. Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In Jesus name.
