Moving Mountains

Psalm 119:19  NASB I am a stranger in the earth;  Do not hide Your commandments from me.

1 John 4:4 NKJV You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

1 Peter 2:11-12 NIV Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.  Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Strangers defined is to live among non-believers but be separate (different).

Foreigner is a person not belonging to a particular place or group.

Exiles defined is the state or a period of forced absence from one’s country or home.

So this is what the Bible says about how we are to be in this world. We are in it but we are not of it. We are different. We do not walk, talk, think or conduct ourselves as the world does. We follow the Lord’s leading and do what the word of God teaches us.

James 4:7-8 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Submit (accept or yield) to God.

Resist (combat, outlast, keep out) the devil and he will flee from you.

Ephesians 6:12  KJV For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NKJV For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Matthew 17:14-21 NKJV And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying,  “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.  So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

The same power that Jesus had we also have (Romans 6:10-11). Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. It just becomes a question of faith. Is our faith the size of a mustard seed? Great!  That is all we need to move mountains.

 Pray with me please,

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come. We bow before You in humble adoration thanking You for all that You have done in our lives, for every good and perfect gift, for walking with us and guiding us. Thank You dearest heavenly Father for Your wisdom and for endowing each of us with a measure of faith. Thank You for Your word which is profitable for teaching and rebuking. There is so much wisdom in Your word. Father, help us not to perish for a lack of knowledge, but rather that we may seek more and more of Your word. Speak to our hearts so that we would gain knowledge. Knowledge is power and we need that power to defeat the evil one. Help us, Lord, to be in the world but not of it. Let us continue to shine for Your glory. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
