Rise Up From The Ashes

Psalm 119:25-32 NLT I lie in the dust; revive me by your word. I told you my plans, and you answered. Now teach me your decrees. Help me understand the meaning of your commandments, and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds. I weep with sorrow; encourage me by your word. Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions. I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations. I cling to your laws. LORD, don’t let me be put to shame! I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding.

Ever feel down, sad, depressed or worthless? The psalmist was lying in the dust. He was as down as down could be. Sometimes the cares of this life can drag us down. Whether it’s divorce, job loss, infidelity or death to name a few. But the psalmist didn’t stay there. He knew God would revive and encourage him according to His word.

There are times when we can get down and even lie to ourselves. I think we have lied a lot to ourselves and fed our spiritual body untruths long enough. Let’s change that and meditate on God’s word instead. We need to find scriptures that will help our situation and apply them to our life.

We should be like the Phoenix and rise from the ashes of deceit. There are beautiful birds out there, in all of us, that are pleading with us to come up out of the pit of despair.

God will teach us, according to His word, when we determine to live by His laws, to cling to Him and be faithful. We can walk in victory. We can rise above our circumstances. There is nothing we can’t do that God has purposed for us to do. No plan of the enemy can defeat  what God has planned for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

So come on with me, dust off your wings and rise up from the ashes.

Pray with me please,

Father,

I like to start every prayer telling You how great You are because that is what Jesus taught us by saying Hallowed be Your name. You are holy, and so very worthy of our praise. You are loving.

Thank You for caring so much about Your children, Lord. It is Your desire to help us, guide us, and give us good gifts.

I pray that we would come up out of the ashes of despair and gloom. Teach us how to grab ahold of You by spending time with You, reading Your word and not just reading it but believing and acting upon it. You have so many good things in store for Your children. Teach us to praise You through the storm and rise up from the ashes. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In Jesus name I pray.
