Psalm 119:89-96 NIV Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; You established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve You. If Your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have preserved my life. Save me, for I am Yours; I have sought out Your precepts. The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder Your statutes. To all perfection I see a limit, but Your commands are boundless.
Some synonyms for the word boundless are limitless, bottomless, immeasurable, incalculable, inexhaustible, undying, without end, unfailing, and everlasting. That sounds about right for God’s word. The Bible is His written love for His creation. He loves us. He has loved us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). He has known us from the time we were in our mothers womb (Psalm 139:13). He came to this earth to die for OUR sins (John 3:16). To bridge the gap that separated mankind from Him. He gave us hope. All that we have to do is believe in Him and ask Him to come into our hearts and forgive us for our sins (Romans 10:9-10). God is so good.
We read here that God’s word is eternal. That means it goes on and on. The things that were written there ages ago are true for us today. His word was their hope ages ago, it is our hope today and also the hope for all future generations. God’s word doesn’t change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is limitless. Those are a few reasons to read His word. The truth that was there for our ancestors is the same truth we need. God’s word holds all of the answers. He longs for us to turn to Him. Are we going to open the pages and see what His will and way is for our lives? God gave us all a free will. We choose who we serve. Even in not choosing anything, we have chosen. It’s all about choices. Choose this day who you will serve. God is calling. Are we going to listen?
Oh most holy and righteous One,
How we sing of Your great love. Praise You and thank You for this day and another opportunity to digest Your word. Father, use this time and these words to draw us all closer to You.
We ask You today to speak to Your children and help every one of us set aside that time to be alone with You in Your word. There is such power and strength waiting for us. Oh, Lord, may all of us have that desire to know You more. We are submitted to Your word. Help us to be committed as well. Your word is our guidance and hope, not just for us but for future generations to come. May we all know Your word so we can teach the future generations the truth. Thanks for being faithful and so loving to us. Thank You for Your Holy Word. May we all desire to know more of what You have to say in the pages. We love You Lord. Have Your way in our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
