Psalm 119:169-176 NLT O Lord, listen to my cry; give me the discerning mind You promised. Listen to my prayer; rescue me as You promised. Let praise flow from my lips, for You have taught me Your decrees. Let my tongue sing about Your word, for all Your commands are right. Give me a helping hand, for I have chosen to follow Your commandments. O Lord, I have longed for Your rescue, and Your instructions are my delight. Let me live so I can praise You, and may Your regulations help me. I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten Your commands.
Discernment, rescuing, garment of praise, help, life and love are found in following the Lord. Do you see the love in the psalmist’s statement “come and find me”? He didn’t doubt if God would be there for him in his time of trouble. He knew he could ask God to come and find him. How many times have we been alone, worried, sad, or discouraged and cried out to the Lord? The Bible says that He is near to the broken-hearted (Psalm 34:18).
See, I think, we have been trying to do things all by ourselves for way too long. There is help available to us through God by His word. He longs for us to draw closer to Him. Can you hear Him calling?
Hear our cry, let our praises reach Your throne and be pleased with us. We say that You are God above everything in our lives. There is none higher than You. You are awesome and amazing. Lord, please continue Your work in us. Help us to be more and more like You. Truly, as Christ followers, may we bring You joy in our actions. Thank You, Lord, for coming to find us! You would leave the ninety nine sheep and come to our rescue (Matthew 18:12-13). Time and time again, because You are faithful and Your love is true, we hear You calling us to a deeper relationship with You. We know that You want to speak to us through Your word and walk hand in hand with us through our lives. Thank You for such great love and compassion. Thank You for taking us through Psalm 119 together. We are forever Your children. Continue the work that You have started in us. (Philippians 1:6) For it is in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Isaiah 61:3 NKJV
To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
