Eighth of the 10 Commandments

Exodus 20:1,15 NLT Then God gave the people all these instructions: 15 “You must not steal.”

What actually happens when a person is stole from? It breaks your trust with them. It violates the person who was robbed from.

1 Corinthians 6:8-10 NIV Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Right here, the Bible says thieves aren’t going to inherent the kingdom of heaven. If you have stole, don’t do it anymore. Repent! Turn away from the sin that so easily ensnared you and run the race. (Hebrews 12:1)  Run it in such a way as to obtain your prize at the end. (1 Corinthians 9:24) The One who called you is faithful. (1 Thessalonians 5:24)  He will not give you more than you can bear, but will make a way out, an escape. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

John 3:16 NKJV For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

That’s how much He loves us. So great a love. What an amazing and  sacrificial gift.  We can’t and don’t have to earn it (Ephesians 2:8-9).  All we need to do is receive the free gift Christ has already done for us on the cross. His love is truer, deeper, higher, more encompassing and filling than any love we could ever experience in this life. He can take our broken pieces and put us back together with His love. Our God is an awesome God!

Pray with me please

Dearest Lord of all creation, and most holy Heavenly Father,

We praise You for everything You have done and all that You are. Thank You for revealing Yourself to us more and more every day. It is our hearts cry to walk nearer to You. We love how much You care for Your children. You deserve all of our praise. Walking through this life with You is a treasure. It is more valuable than gold, more valuable to us than all the gold in Fort Knox. You fulfil Your word, time after time, and give us the desires of our hearts. We have learned that You are with us no matter what is going on. Trusting You is amazing because You never let us down.

Thank You for Your reminder to keep our eyes fixed on You. That is when Peter started to sink, when he got his eyes on the storm around him and off of You. We too, as Your children, can walk right through, even on top, of anything that comes our way as long as we keep our eyes fixed on You. Help us, Lord, to continue to focus on You, and on Your word. Now, more than ever, we need that guidance which only You can provide.

Thank You for the eighth Commandment which says not to steal. May we always honor You by adhering to this. If we have sinned in this area, it is my prayer that we would repent of it and not do it anymore. Flood us with Your Holy Spirit, so that we would not sin against You.

Thank You Lord, for Your goodness and mercy to all. Let us continue to be Your lights in this dark world, walking hand in hand with You, on top of every storm, sickness, disease or problem in our life. Because You are the Victor! Please Lord, give us the power to keep our eyes fixed on You. In Jesus name. Amen.

  1. Thanks Donna. This one gives lots to think about … from obvious forms of theft to ones we think of as being ‘not so bad’. We need to be careful and listen to God’s voice speaking to our hearts.
    Love to you. 💖
