Love

John 3:16 NKJV For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

The Bible says, no greater love than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. That is the love God has for us. Christ showed it on the cross. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). We don’t have to do anything, other than believe. Without faith it is impossible to please God.

Hebrews 11:6 NIV

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

So, there has to be a starting point and that is our belief in God. Then, we grow in His word. We learn more and more as we study the scriptures. We learn what the will of God is and even is not. We learn to rightly divide the word of truth. We learn encouragement and how to encourage others. We learn to say and do things that are pleasing to Him. We learn humility is better than sacrifice. We learn what the heart of God is and how we are to model that. We learn to be His hands and feet in this world. Most of all we learn love. Love covers a multitude of sins. I know He has covered mine with His perfect love. Won’t you let him cover yours as well?

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 NASB If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Pray with me please,

Father, Father, Father, blessed Holy Father,

Oh, how we adore You. You are love. You have placed Your seal upon us and we are to love as You did. To forgive the unforgivable, to release mercy and grace in this unforgiving and cold world. You want to show Your love through all of us believers. You have saved us with Your love and brought us into a new relationship with Yourself. You have indeed drawn us out of the miry pit and set our feet upon the Rock. Now we just want to grow in that love and share Your love with others. Please, let us love not just our family members, but may we have love to and for all people, even our enemies. We are called to love and to walk in that love. Help us to be pleasing in Your sight by our immense love. With Your power, there is nothing we can’t do. Greater are You who is in us, than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We beg You, Lord, to change the way we think, with the enlightenment of Your word. Praise be to Your holy name forever. Here we are, Lord, use us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
