Obedience

1 Samuel 15:22-23 NASB Samuel said, “Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.  “For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has also rejected you from being king.”

Obedience is better than sacrifice. We certainly do not want to rebel against the Lord. Rebellion defined is:  the action or process of resisting authority, control, or convention. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. We know according to scripture that those who do such will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. (Revelation 21:8, Galatians 5:19-21)  Because we want no part of rebellion, let’s look at what the antonyms are. Then we can do the exact opposite of rebellion. Antonyms for rebellion are: obedience, submission, harmony and peace. Those sound like the words I want to honor the Lord by adhering to, when I delve into His word.  So let’s open our hearts and listen to what the Lord is saying to us in His word.

Philippians 2:8 NASB Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

This was the greatest example of pure obedience; Jesus was obedient unto death.

Obey defined is: to comply with the  command, direction or request of God and submit to His authority. Carry out, perform and execute are a few synonyms to the word obey.

Sacrifice defined is: an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy.

Today, I want to call on the body of Christ to call out to the Lord in praise. Praise Him, higher and louder, even in the face of despair. Lay it all aside and really praise Him. He is worthy of our praise.

Hebrews 13:15 NIV Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.

We don’t wait until everything is perfect to praise God. We praise Him through our stuff (disappointments, death, hospital stays, failures, divorces, sicknesses, diseases, impairments yes and even pandemics etc.). We praise Him. Yes, sometimes it is a sacrifice. There are times that we don’t want to. We get lost in our own emotions, but if we surrender to Him and His Lordship, we see it is always right. He alone, can then bless us for our sacrifice of praise.  God is so good. We think we are doing something so great by sacrificing our time, when we don’t want to or even don’t feel like it, and there He is, blessing us for it. So, yes we praise our Lord!  We cannot out give God. Not in our finances, praise or anything else that we surrender to Him. A life lived in surrender to  God cannot help but to be a blessed life.

 1 Chronicles 16:23-31 NKJV 23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. 24 Declare His glory among the nations,  His wonders among all peoples. 25 For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all gods. 26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. 27 Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and gladness are in His place. 28 Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Give to the Lord glory and strength. 29 Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! 30 Tremble before Him, all the earth. The world also is firmly established, It shall not be moved. 31 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”

If you are His Child then praise Him with me all people everywhere,

Dearest Lord of all creation,

We praise and honor You Lord for all that You have done and continue to do in our lives. You are amazing, in the fulfilling of Your love that shines in us and through us. We praise You for Your glorious word, Your gentle guiding and sweet fellowship. We ask You, Lord, in the name of Jesus, to help us to be fully committed to You and Your will and way for our lives. Not our will, but Yours be done in every area of our life. We surrender our sacrifice of praise to You. We truly praise You, no matter what is going on in our lives. We praise You because You are God and You are worthy of all praise. We do raise a hallelujah in the presence of our enemies. Just like the song says, we all have our own hallelujah and we raise it to You now Lord. Hallelujah means Praise The Lord, and we do praise You in the middle of our mystery. Fear and Corona virus have a name and they must bow before You Jesus. Yours is the name above all others. Let all the nations rejoice in our God. You, Lord, are our salvation! You are awesome and magnificent. There is none like You in all the world. You save, heal, care, love, provide, calm, give and manifest Yourself through all of creation. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
