Reflect and Reject

While we are in confinement, this is a great opportunity to search our hearts. What have we been believing? Are our thoughts aligning with the word of God? I think it is time to clean house, so to speak, reflecting on God’s word and rejecting the lies of the enemy. It is the mind and heart, that needs cleansed. We have been immersing ourselves in the word of God every day, in these blogs of mine, as well as others. As we do that, we need to be praying that the blinders would fall off of our eyes and that the truth would be seen, as according to scripture. God’s ways are always the right ways. His will needs to supersede ours by our total surrender to Him.

What lies of the world have we allowed into our lives, homes and even places of worship? How far off the mark are we when it comes to being holy?

1 Peter 1:13-25 NLT

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time here as “temporary residents.” For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose Him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days He has been revealed for your sake. Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave Him great glory. You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.

People get ready Jesus is coming. We are told here to prepare our mind for action and exercise self-control! We are also told to obey Him and not live the way we did before. Don’t fall back. We are not those people (Hebrews 10:39). We are to be holy and honor the Lord with our body. Get ourselves in check with the word of God here. We didn’t know any better before, now we do! Live in fear because we were bought with a price. What a huge price! That should prick our conscience every time we even think a wrong thought, not to mention actually doing it! God help us to really see the truth in His word. Take a moment and reread the scripture above. Seek His truth. These aren’t things I have just made up. It is the actual living and breathing word of God.

1 Corinthians 6:15-20 NIV Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh. ”But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

The Bible clearly says here to honor God with our bodies. Don’t be sexually immoral. Don’t even have the thoughts of being impure. Jesus said if a man even looks at a woman with lust, he has already committed adultery. So just avoid it. This will take discernment for each individual. You will know when to turn off the television, shut off the internet, or walk away from a provocative situation. Listen, we need to get things right in our life. Jesus said:

Matthew 7:21-23 NIV “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name and in Your name drive out demons and in Your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

This tells me that there are some in a higher position who will not enter the kingdom of heaven, some who are prophesying and driving out demons even! That is another reason we need to personally know the word of God. Philippians 2:12 tells us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. That’s why pastors are held to a higher level of accountability (James 3:1). We can discern false teaching with the word of God. We just need to read and know His precious word.

The Bible says:

John 1:5 NIV The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

That darkness around us cannot stand before our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Every knee will bow. No matter what garbage you may have surrounding you, impaling you or impeding you from doing the work of the Lord, the darkness has to flee! Just keep on speaking the word of God over yourself, your home, your family, finances and employment. Be ready to say goodbye to the weights and heavy burdens, they are not ours to carry (Psalm 55:22, Matthew 11:28). God is there waiting with arms open wide. The closer we get to Him, the brighter we become, making therefore, the darkness flee. What darkness or despair do you want gone today?

John 3:19 ESV And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.

This brings tears to my eyes. If it grieves me, imagine what it does to the Lord. People loved the darkness rather than the light. Really? Ugh. It is time to wake up. The situation is about our hearts! We need to cleanse our own personal heart from things that are displeasing to the Lord.

Read His word, oh child of God, read it and let Him change the way you think, act and perform. There has to be a change. The closer we get to Him, because of His Light, the darkness in us has to flee.

The problem is that men love the darkness more than the Light. Please, seek the Lord and appeal to Him for His mercy. Ask Him to soften your heart and reveal ANY hidden sin that is lurking. Be open to change. The room for improvement is the biggest room in your house.

We can all do better, we must all do better! Is there anything at all that He is speaking to your heart about today? Don’t reject Him or put it off any longer. Take action today. Make it your objective to get closer to the Lord and not let anything stand in your way. What better place to be is there, than closer to our Father?

Revelation 3:15-21 NLT

“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on His throne.

Being complacent is wrong in God’s eyes. Let’s choose to be on fire for Him. Ask Him for His Holy Spirit fire to fall on us. That we would be awake and alive, fully refreshed and faithfully functioning for His Kingdom. Let’s shake the cares and concerns of this world off and take up our cross and follow Him!

Blessed Heavenly, pure and holy Father,

Praise You, for all of Your marvelous creations, we being among them. Lord, we just bow before You and humbly ask for Your mercy. We can see, in Your word, what it is that You would have for us to learn and apply. Lord, we lay our lives down before You and ask You to reveal any hidden sin that we have been carrying around for far too long now. We repent of anything that You reveal. We ask for Your forgiveness. Please remove any sin that You have revealed and replace it with more of Your Holy Spirit. We want to be on fire for You. Please let Your Holy Spirit set our hearts ablaze.

May we speak Your word with boldness and sincerity. Let every aspect of our lives shine forth with Your brightness, so that people couldn’t help but be drawn to that Light. We cannot wait till that blessed day when we see You face to face. Thank You so much for Your tender love and correction. We love You with all of our heart and declare You are King of our lives, homes, relationships and churches. We will walk in Your light from now on reflecting always on Your word and rejecting any lies or false teachings from the enemy. Please adhere Your precious word to our hearts and minds. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
