The following is an actual event that happened in my life, that I want to share with you, my readers, to reveal God’s power in my life. The following is one example.
My ex-husband Calvin (purposely changed his name) had a week’s vacation from work. It was on one of those days that I asked him to borrow a four wheeler from a family member, so that we could take a little ride. We had worked all morning, and it seemed like a fun thing to do. I enjoyed being taken for a ride so very much.
He borrowed one and took me for a ride. We were riding around, back in the woods, and we came to a very steep hill. My ex-husband started to go down it.
I asked him, “What are you doing?”
“Going down this hill,” he said.
“You most certainly are not,” I sternly replied, “Please back up.”
He did. We went riding around and came to the other side of the hill.
He said, “You better get off because I’m going to take that hill.” I jumped off. Before I could say no, stop or anything else, he was off.
Standing at the top of the other side of the hill, I watched him go down. That part went okay. My heart now being in my throat, he approached the other side of the hill going straight up. I do mean directly vertical. It was a steep hill. My heart was pounding. I watched in horror as my ex-husband went halfway up the hill.
There he hit a root and started going backwards. Then, the whole four-wheeler started flipping over backwards with him on it. That heavy piece of machinery crushed him against the ground and tumbled the rest of the way back to the bottom. It threw him off like he was a rag doll and it landed upside down. I stood at the top of the hill totally helpless. I wished for “Inspector Gadget” arms so that I could stop it, help him, but I stood there helpless.
Then, when it finally stopped, I went running down the hill as my husband lay moaning for my help, while lying in the muddy creek. As I knelt beside him, he pulled his muddy arm up and put it around my shoulder. He was on all fours.
He kept moaning, “Help me, help me.”
“Okay, here I am,” I said, “What do you want me to do?”
He said, “Help me stand up.” I did. I helped him get to this big rock which was close to where the four wheeler laid on dry land at the bottom of the hill.
I asked him, “What do I do?” (It’s funny how we always turn to our mates for answers and help especially in times of trouble.) Secondly, I asked him if he thought I should go for help. I knew he was in pain. I thought about it, and it would have taken too long to go for help, especially since I did not know how badly hurt he was because he just kept moaning.
He answered me, “No, don’t go. Help me up and I will help you flip the four wheeler over.” I knew that he was in no condition to do such a thing. I went over by myself and tried to push it over. It would not budge. I looked over at him and all around at the sheer desperation of the situation and tried again, still, no movement. Trust me, the adrenaline was going.
My ex-husband moaned, “Come here and help me up so that I can help you.”
I knew that was not going to happen. So, I cried out, “Lord, please help me flip this four-wheeler over.” I reached down and guess what? The Lord helped me! This eight hundred pound piece of machinery felt like a feather as the Lord helped me. The Lord flipped that four-wheeler over. I will not take any of the credit. The glory is His! He is awesome.
And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
–Acts 12:23 KJV
My God can do anything. He who split the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21-22), turned the water into wine (John 2:7-10), healed a blind man (John 9:7), raised Lazarus from the grave (John 11:37-43), fed the children of Israel (Exodus 16:15), and saved a sinner like me. There is nothing that my God can not do.
Jesus said in the King James Version in John 14:12:
He that believeth on me, the works that I do he shall do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
My ex-husband and I got on the four-wheeler. First, I said that I would go for help and he said no that he would get on it with me. Then, we rode slowly back to the house where I cleaned him up a little in the garage and called his sister to see what I should do because he just kept moaning and saying that he didn’t know what to do. She told me to take him to the hospital.
It ended up with him going to the hospital. What an agonizing ordeal! That is another story but the end of this one is, he had a bruised lung and a broken pelvis and he recuperated fast and nice. To the Lord is the glory both now and evermore.
Following is a little poem I had written a while ago. These are all in the end of a book that I wrote on my whole life. I never did get the book published though. Maybe I will share more from it if the Lord is willing on another day. All I know, is, that I felt led by God to share this account with you guys and also the poem I wrote for just a little fun. Enjoy!
TRIED YOUR BEST
At the end of my life
when I stand before the Lord,
I just want to hear Him say,
“You tried your best.”
“You may not have always succeeded
and yes, there were times
when you failed;
but you never let Me down for
you tried your best.”
“The gifts that I gave you,
you did try to use.
You may not have always used them,
indeed many times you did fail,
but it is okay
I love you,
You tried your best.”
“You listened for my voice.
You did your best to obey.
The words that I spoke,
they pierced your heart and you
tried your best
to let them change you those days.”
“You were not perfect,
I did not create you to be.
I knew that apple
would be picked off the tree.
I know you are not perfect,
that is okay with me.”
I provided my Son to take all that away.
All I ever wanted from you my dear child
is to know that you wanted to
try your best.”
“Tried your best
to do the right things,
tried your best
to be the best you could be.”
“In all your relationships, I never did frown,
I saw you my child, you were
trying your best.”
At the end of my life when I stand before the Lord,
more than all else, with such love in His eyes,
I want to hear Him say,
“MY child, you
TRIED YOUR BEST.”
Pray with me please,
Dearest heavenly Father, I love You so! I feel so happy to be safe in Your arms. I know that no power of the enemy can harm me. You have me covered. I know that there is nothing to fear. Walking with You is one of the best things ever. You have always been there for me. Even at times when my focus is off of You for a moment, You reach out for me as soon as I call for You. Indeed You are a good, good Father! Thank You! From the bottom of my heart I cry out thank You. Lord, I thank You for those that are reading today and for the blessing that You have for them. I pray that their eyes would be open to see You as I see You, with tremendous power, and to know that You are still in the business of helping Your children, no matter what. Help us all to keep our eyes fixed on You during the emotional turmoil that is happening in our world right now. I believe that at any time You see fit You could say to Coronavirus, be gone and it would have to leave the earth. I know what power You have. I have experienced it firsthand. I will always sing of Your great name and tell the people of Your power and love. You are glorious, wonderful and amazing. There are not enough words to say how spectacular You are. I cannot wait till I see You face to face. The One who took my place and washed away my sins, my four wheeler flipping God. Praise Your holy name forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are instructed to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), so if there are any prayer requests feel free to leave them in the comment section. I would be honored to pray with you. If it is more private you can always contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org I check that every day. Blessings to you all, till we meet again, tomorrow, if the Lord is willing. Peace.
