Matthew 5:14-16 NLT “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Another fantastic reason to try and do our best. So that everyone will praise our heavenly Father. We are to represent Christ here on this earth. They will know we are Christians by our love. Huge love, off the wall, even, love for others. We are going to be shining for Christ! Let us draw near to Him so we know what to say and do. We will be guided by the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:14-21 NASB For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose on their behalf.
16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one by the flesh; even though we have known Christ by the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
For the love of Christ controls us. I love that statement! Death to our old life. True and new life in Christ! He died and was raised for us. We are alive in Him!
We do not judge others, we just love them. We are to show His love, more and more, to everyone. He has given us this wonderful job of bringing people back to Him. We are His ambassadors and we are to plead with others “Come back to God!”
Today, if you don’t know Jesus or have slipped away from Him, I beg you to come back to God. Please come back today, there might not be a tomorrow. Oh most holy and infinitely wise Father,
How we adore You. Thank You for Your mercy which is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Thank You for leading and guiding us in Your truth. May we, as Your ambassadors, bring glory to Your name, by what we say and do. May we shine so bright with Your love. Let Your great love impower us to love the unlovable and to reach every single person that You want us to with Your great and glorious gospel! Let our feet be shod, Lord, with Your word. May we remember to put on Your armor and shine for You in this dark world. It is in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
