Calling to God

Nobody

By Casting Crowns

Why You ever chose me
Has always been a mystery
All my life I’ve been told I belong
At the end of the line

With all the other not-quites
With all the never-get-it-rights
But it turns out they’re the ones You were looking for
All this time

‘Cause I’m just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody
Who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing

I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

Moses had stage fright
When David brought a rock to a sword fight
You picked twelve outsiders nobody would have chosen
And You changed the world

Well the moral of the story is
Everybody’s got a purpose
So when I hear that devil start talking to me saying
“Who do you think you are?”
I say

I’m just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody
Who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing

I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

So let me go down, down, down in history
As another blood-bought faithful member of a family
And if they all forget my name, well that’s fine with me
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

So let me go down, down, down in history (Goin’ down in history)
As another blood-bought faithful member of a family
(That’s all I ever wanna be)
And if they all forget my name, well that’s fine with me
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

‘Cause I’m just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody
Who saved my soul
(Gonna save, gonna save my soul)
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing
(You gave me a song to sing)

I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
(Nobody but You, Lord)
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

Mark 16:15-16 NIV He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

For more on baptism read my blog titled, What is Baptism https://thefathersfeet.wordpress.com/2021/04/07/what-is-baptism/

John 3:16-17 NIV For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

Psalm 30:11-12 NIV You turned my wailing into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12 that my heart may sing Your praises and not be silent.  Lord my God, I will praise You forever.

Exodus 4:10-11 NLT But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” 11 Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”

1 Samuel 17:47-50 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give all of you into our hands.” 48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. 50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.

Philippians 2:13  For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.

Hebrews 10:19-25 NLT And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.

Father God, Lord of all creation,

We come to You today meditating on Your precious word. How good it is to read Your word. Today I do not feel compelled to write anything other than a prayer. A sincere thank You is what I have to offer. I thank You for all that You have done and are continuing to do for me and for all of my brothers and sisters in Your family.

Your word says that You will never leave or forsake us (Matthew 28:20), that You are a Father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5), and that You are our strength when we are weak (Psalm 29:11). Thank You for Your comfort, presence and strength. You have provided us with everything that we need. You always do. You give and give and give some more. You lavish Your love on us (1 John 3:1). While we were yet sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Thank You for that incredible, amazing and sacrificial love.

May we, as Your children, bring You pleasure today with our thoughts, words and actions. May the world see Your love shining through us. Christ in us, the Hope of glory, the Hope that the world needs right now. People need to see love, compassion, thoughtfulness and even more love, now more than ever before.

Our lives, yielded to Your power, can produce so many things. There is nothing that You cannot do through a heart that is yielded to You. Let us continue to be the pen in Your hands, so that You can write our story. We will know where to go, what to say and how to act. We will be able to comfort others and strengthen them from the river of love that flows through us from Your precious throne. May we all realize that when we are weak, that is when You are strong. Oh, Lord, be strong in us. Let Your will be done for Your glory.

We pray 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, in that we realize few of us were wise in the world’s eyes, or powerful or wealthy when You called us. Instead You chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And You chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. You chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important, so that none of us can boast before You.  The only thing we do boast about is You, Lord. We boast of Your greatness, power and strength.

I think that You are awesome, Lord. Thank You for using us. May we exalt Your name and claim Your presence and power over this whole earth. Power to destroy Coronavirus, break chains, set people free from bondage, move mountains, restore the brokenhearted, heal and deliver. There is nothing that You cannot do. May our eyes, hearts and minds be totally focused on You, Your will and Your way. May we walk in this world, realizing the Power that we have, as Your ambassadors, in this dark and lonely world. Most of all Lord, Let Your light of love shine through us. We are done playing games. We will not ride the fence any longer. We have picked up our cross and are determined to follow You. Lead us in Your everlasting way. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

We are instructed to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), so if there are any prayer requests feel free to leave them in the comment section. I would be honored to pray with you. If it is more private you can always contact me via email at luckd61@yahoo.com I check that every day. Blessings to you all, till we meet again, tomorrow, if the Lord is willing. Peace.
