Jesus came to save our souls, yes. What else does the Bible say about healing? Let’s look in the word of God for our answers.
Father, Please open our eyes to see the truth from Your glorious gospel. In Jesus’ name.
First of all, we need to believe. Believe in God and believe that He has the power to heal. Then, we need to act on our faith. Call out to God. Claim His word and power over your life. God sent forth His word to heal (Psalm 107:20). Jesus is the Word (John 1).
Luke 8:43-48 NIV And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. 45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” 47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
This woman had faith! She knew if she could just touch the hem of his garment, she would be healed! What great faith! Could we try to imagine the faith this woman must have had? Twelve years is a long time to have an issue of blood! She must have been in such a deep state of anguish, pain and agony. That’s where we need to get, to a place of sincere hunger and thirsting for righteousness , honestly seeking our Lord and Savior.
The Bible tells of other examples of faith for healing. Someone came to Jesus right after this example in verses 49-54 (I didn’t post), and wanted Him to come and heal Jairus’s daughter. They even said she was dead so don’t bother Jesus anymore. What did Jesus do? He spoke to Jairus’s daughter , “My child, get up!” The Bible says immediately her life returned and she stood up. The preceding was the story of two separate people and the blessing of healing that they both received. There are many other stories of healing in the word of God. The thing they have in common is they had faith!
There is even an instance that Jesus did not do a lot of miracles there because of their lack of faith (Matthew 13:58). Remember all things are possible to them who believe (Mark 9:23). We don’t have to hide it or be ashamed. Of a certainty, we better not be ashamed because Jesus said He would be ashamed of us (Luke 9:26). We need to reach out in bold faith BELIEVING.
Hebrews 11:6 NIV And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Mark 11:22-26 NLT Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. 25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.
Look closely at the scripture, there is a but there. Verse 25 starts with, But when you are praying, first forgive anyone that you have a grudge against. Before we can expect any kind of healing, we have to forgive! Jesus forgave when he was hanging on the cross!!! Wrongfully accused and beat severely, hanging on the cross with a crown of thorns on His head, what did He say?
Jesus said in Luke 23:34, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”
We are to be His examples on this earth! Forgive as He forgave. We have no ‘right’ to hold on to any offense. As a matter of fact, we only hurt ourselves when we hold onto these hurts. There is freedom and liberation from bondage when we forgive. We are actually doing ourselves a favor. Then, we can go to God in prayer believing and receive healing!
James 5:13-16 NLT Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
There, please see, the Bible says the prayer of faith WILL heal, not might or maybe, it is not contingent upon you doing so many things to receive it. It is a free gift of God.
Deuteronomy 30:20 NLT “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! 20 You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
Choose life, commit to and obey God, that is the key to a long life. We shouldn’t feel bad for asking the Lord for our health. The Bible says the Lord loves to give good gifts to His children. (Matthew 7:11) Read the story of Job. Satan is the only one who wants us to be sick, diseased, unhealthy and unhappy. (1Peter 5:8) The Lord wants good things for us. (Jeremiah 29:11)
1 Peter 2:24 NLT He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.
Thank You Jesus! And again the word of God doesn’t say you might be, could be or if you do a ritual then you will be. No the Bible says By His wounds you ARE healed. (my emphasis)
Galatians 3:29 NLT And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.
We are heirs according to the promise! The healing is for us too and for all who call upon the name of Jesus! It is a free gift because of His great love for us (John 3:16).
Hebrews 4:16 NLT So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
So let’s start sending forth the word, in prayer believing! God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Reach out in faith believing for your miracle. God is able. Where is our faith? Faith in the Bible is counted as righteousness. (Romans 4:5) Look at Hebrews chapter 11 to see great examples of faith and how it pleased God. Faith defined is the complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Complete trust in God for salvation, and healing! The Bible says, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Have faith! Ask in prayer believing!
James 4:2b-3 NIV You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
Matthew 7:7 NKJV “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
John 14:12 NLT I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
Know the Word. Believe the Word. Pray the Word.
Lord, God, Jehovah-Jireh, my provider,
You have been so good to me. Over and over, time and time again, You have never failed me. I know I can trust and depend on You. There is nothing that You cannot do. Thank You Lord for Your word. May we all claim Your word. Oh, Lord, that we would speak Your word and receive Your healing. Your word says that You love to give good gifts to Your children. Right now the good gift we would ask from You is healing. Thank You for Your eternal word. Praise Your holy name forever. Your word also says that what we bind in heaven will be bound on earth, and what we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Lord, we bind the hands of the enemy from robbing us of our health. We loose Your power to heal and we receive that healing in the mighty name of Jesus. You are our King! We love You. We receive more of You Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Say this out loud: We bind you satan and all of your demons and generals, from interfering in our lives and stealing our healing. Sickness, disease and death we command you to leave in the name of Jesus.
We are instructed to bear one another’s burdens, (Galatians 6:2) so if there are any prayer requests feel free to leave them in the comment section. I would be honored to pray with you. If it is more private you can always contact me via email at luckd61@yahoo.com I check that every day. Blessings to you all, till we meet again, tomorrow, if the Lord is willing. Peace.
