Sunshine in My Soul

I have sunshine in my soul. On the darkest and cloudiest of days, I have a peace and a strength, that I know, only comes from God. How awesome He is, to be so attentive to His children! His blood flows over us, His mercy surrounds us, His Spirit gives peace.

Indeed, I can relate to David in the book of Psalms. I can have peace because He is my shield and the lifter of my head (Psalm 3:3).

Psalm 91:1-5 NLT

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High   will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;   he is my God, and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue you from every trap  and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his feathers.  He will shelter you with his wings.  His faithful promises are your armor and protection. 5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. 6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,  nor the disaster that strikes at midday.

What is the opposite of fear? Calm, confidence, trust and belief are opposites. What does the word of God say? I have underlined and italicized the following scriptures, so that you can clearly see where calm, confidence, trust and belief are in the word of God.  Which, by no means, is this a complete list, as I am sure there are a slew of others. These are just the ones that spoke to me. Feel free to list any others that you may know and like in the comments thread section below.

Psalm 107:27-32 NLT

They reeled and staggered like drunkards  and were at their wits’ end. 28 “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble,  and he saved them from their distress. 29 He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. 30 What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! 31 Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. 32 Let them exalt him publicly before the congregation and before the leaders of the nation.

One thing I know to be true of the Lord, He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). What He has done for others, He will do for me. How great is His love and unfailing mercy to us (Psalm 117:2). Seek Him today (2 Corinthians 6:2). Seek Him while He can be found (Isaiah 55:6).

Philippians 1:5-6 NLT

5 for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. 6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart  and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him,  and he will make your paths straight.

John 14:1 NIV

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.

My dad used to sing the song, ‘You are my Sunshine’ to me. I remember the peace and joy I received just hearing him sing over me, while he bounced me on his knee. What if, we thought of God singing that song over us? I just prayed and made the following  lyrics up. Feel free to sing along. (Sonshine is the light of Christ living in us)

God to us, singing to the tune, ‘You are my Sunshine’:

You are my Sonshine,

 My lovely Sonshine

You make me happy,

 When close to Me.

The closer you are

 The more I  tell you

Please keep walking closer to Me.

The other night dear, as you lay sleeping

I kept you from deadly disease,

While you were sleeping

 I still was working.

Please release your love to Me.

Then I can hold you

 And I can show you

 Just how much that

You mean to Me.

 Please do not fear child,

For I am with you.

Just do not take My favor in vain.

 And understand now,

How much I love you.

It was for your lifeblood I died,

 But do not worry,

 Death didn’t hold Me,

Indeed I walk

 So close

By your side.

Zephaniah 3:17 AMPC

The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing.

His love is rich towards us. He died for us while we were still sinners (John 3:16), He knows how many hairs are on our head (Luke 12:7), He has great plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11)….let’s walk in joy for the freedom He gave us and the love He lavishes on us. Realize who we are in Christ, we are His  chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and God’s special possession (1Peter 2:9). Receive the joy that only a personal relationship with God, through Christ, can bring. Follow link at bottom if you don’t have that relationship yet. Be blessed.

Pray with me please

Father,

You are good. You provide us with all good things. We too can say, even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil. You protect us, comfort us, guide us and strengthen us. You love us with such an incredible love and all You want from us is to love You and to love others. What perfect peace You give to those whose mind is stayed on You (Isaiah 26:3). Help us to not give place to worry, fear or doubt anymore, rather let us trust in You and feel that wonderful and truly amazing peace that You give. The peace that surpasses all understanding, the peace that provides joy. May we have joy unspeakable and full of glory just like the song says. Have Your will and way be done through us today. Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

We are instructed to bear one another’s burdens, (Galatians 6:2) so if there are any prayer requests feel free to leave them in the comment section. I would be honored to pray with you. If it is more private you can always contact me via email at luckd61@yahoo.com I check that every day. Blessings to you all, till we meet again, tomorrow, if the Lord is willing. Peace.

      1. The gift of a loving father makes it easy for us to understand how loving our heavenly Father is.
I loved my Dad so much too.
Snowing and foggy here at the edge of North America, in Newfoundland.
        However, sunshine is coming.
