Take Up Our Cross

Luke 9:23-27 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. 25 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed? 26 If anyone is ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels. 27 I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God.”

1 John 2:15-17 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. What are the things that please God? Here is a list of some things that please Him.

  • When brethren dwell together in unity (Psalm 133:1).
  • To have faith (Hebrews 11:6).
  • To present our bodies as a living and holy sacrifice (Romans 12:1).
  • Bearing fruit and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10).
  • Obedience to parents (Colossians 3:20).
  • Excel in our walk  with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:1).
  • To lead a tranquil, quiet life in all godliness and dignity (1 Timothy 2:1-3).
  • To take care of orphans and widows (James 1:27).
  • Just being His people (Psalm 149:4).
  • Not being in the flesh (Romans 8:8).
  • Doing good and sharing (Hebrews 13:16).

Let’s seek to  please the Lord with what He wants from our lives. That was not a complete list, I am sure. If there are others, that you like, please leave them in the comments section. Remember, the world is fading away (1 John 2:17). We have brought nothing into this world and for  certain we will carry nothing out (1 Timothy 6:7).

There is truth, power, strength and victory in the inerrant word of God. All scripture is profitable (2 Timothy 3:16). What is the word of God speaking to our hearts today? Picking up our cross and again, we may see persecution and suffering. That is if we want to be Jesus followers. It is our choice. We can choose to do the right things for the right reasons, or we can choose, to walk with the world. When we do the right things, we are walking hand in hand with the Lord. I would rather walk with the Lord than to walk with the world. They world is lost. They do not know the Way, the Truth and the Life. Let’s show them Jesus, with our love, mercy and  with the light of the glorious gospel. We need to let them know that without Jesus they are lost and indeed on their way to a literal fiery place of torment, called hell, which will be eternal separation from God. Do we love them enough to tell them? The truth?

Read my blog titled Hell for more information on that.  https://thefathersfeet.wordpress.com/2020/04/10/hell/

To know Jesus better or for an example on how to share the gospel, read my blog titled, You Never Let Us Go.

Pray with me please

Dearest Lord God of all creation,

We so need Your guidance. Thank You for Your blessed and holy word, which is our truth that we are to rightly divide. Help us to do things that please You Lord. We need to die to the flesh and live in the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25) Help us to digest Your word. We need to know the truth. Let the Truth set us free, please, Father. Let us be brave and show the lost world Your hope, love and mercy. Help us to be bold and to love people enough to speak the truth in love and to point them to You, our Lord and Savior. Thank You, that You have given us everything we need. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.” We claim Your word today in the mighty name of Jesus. We long, excitedly, to see what You will do with our lives. Be glorified, Lord. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

We are instructed to bear one another’s burdens, (Galatians 6:2) so if there are any prayer requests feel free to leave them in the comment section. I would be honored to pray with you. If it is more private you can always contact me via email at luckd61@yahoo.com I check that every day. Blessings to you all, till we meet again, tomorrow, if the Lord is willing. Peace.
