Dearest and most holy heavenly Father,
Your words are truth. Please use the truth as outlined in Your word to open blinded eyes so that we would all see the truth. Help us to lay down our pride and selfish wants. What we need is more of You. Let us understand what it is that You are saying. Prepare us, Lord, for indeed the end is nearer than it was yesterday or the day before. Let Your understanding open our eyes. We ask in the precious name of Jesus.
2 Peter 1:16-21 NLT
16 For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes 17 when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” 18 We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19 Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, 21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
We will be doing good if we pay attention to the written prophetic word. God’s word is a light in this dark world. In the middle of the darkness is the light of God. We, as His ambassadors, are His lights shining forth. The purpose of prophecy is to make us aware of the coming of the Lord. Oh that we would live in anticipation of His coming. The King of kings and Lord of lords is coming back for His church!
Hebrews 9:27-28 NLT And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, 28 so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.
Are we eagerly waiting for our Lord’s return?
Titus 2:11-13 NLT For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 12 And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, 13 while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.
Motivation for holy living is looking for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I cannot stress enough the fact that we need to be ready. The time to quit ‘playing church’ is now.
1 John 3:1-3 NLT
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. 2 Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. 3 And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.
And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure. There it is again. A call to holy living. We have to understand the word of God. Yes, God is love and He is all forgiving. For my example I would like us to look at the woman caught in adultery. Jesus told the people standing there ready to stone her, “whoever is without sin, let him throw the first stone.” Since they all had sin, every one of them dropped their stones. “Woman where are your accusers?,” Jesus asked. Then what did He say to her? “Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.” He didn’t say, well it is okay go ahead and do some more adulterous acts because I will forgive you again and again. I think that is where we are with our comfortableness with sin. Look, the evidence of salvation should be in our life. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak. The scripture puts responsibility on us. Jesus blood is what bought our freedom. Walk in that freedom. Lay down your life and pick up your cross to follow Him. It isn’t about fleshly desires and pleasures anymore, repent! It needs to be about our growth, love and relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Revelation 2:17 NLT Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give some of the manna that has been hidden away in heaven. And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it.
2 Peter 3:8-14 NKJV But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
The Day of the Lord
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless
Matthew 24:12-14 NLT Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.
We are responsible to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom.
Revelation 19:7-8 NLT Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. 8 She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.” For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.
The time is drawing near. No man knows the exact day or hour. But we are told to be ready. The church, us, the body of Christ, has to make herself ready. A final word from scripture of food for thought…..
Matthew 7:21-23 NLT “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. 22 On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ 23 But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
Praise You for everything You have done. Thank You, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike (Matthew 11:25). Help us all to be ready, to have our robes dipped in the blood of Christ (Revelation 7:14), to be pure, holy and righteous (Philippians 4:8). Help us to live our lives in such a way that would bring joy to You, Lord. That you would say Look that’s my child! We can live right by the power of Your holy Spirit dwelling in us. There is no turning back now. The world has nothing to offer us. We want to go further with You. Help us to be the lights in this dark world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are instructed to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), so if there are any prayer requests feel free to leave them in the comment section. I would be honored to pray with you. If it is more private you can always contact me via email at email@example.com I check that every day. Blessings to you all, till we meet again, tomorrow, if the Lord is willing. Peace.
