Hearing from God My Notes from Dr. Charles A Stanley video

Isaiah 50:4 NKJV   The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to hear as the learned.

We need to understand how God speaks to people today. The three ways are His word, through other people and through circumstances. We have to spend time in His word as this is the primary way He speaks to us. When God uses others to speak to us, we have to know the word of God to see if what they are saying to us lines up with His word. Deliberate willful sin in a believer will keep us from hearing from God. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit. See my blog titled, Do Not Grieve The Holy Spirit https://thefathersfeet.wordpress.com/2020/05/17/do-not-grieve-the-holy-spirit/

Develop a listening heart, a listening spirit, that being able to hear God speak to us is a way of life. So that whenever God wants to say something there will always be that subconsciousness within us that’s always listening to whatever God may want to say.

How do I develop a listening spirit
Prioritize , Just meditate and ask the Lord to speak to your heart. Ask Him to teach us how to listen to what He says.
• I must pursue it. Desire, hunger, thirst and study.
Persist in it.
Pray– ask Him how.

5 characteristics of a listening spirit
(Retaught from Lion of Judah video)
1. Teachable spirit
Proverbs 9:9 A teachable spirit is one that is able, willing and open to learn and also acknowledges that there is a need to learn. Open to God to teach you how to listen to Him.
2. Attentive spirit
Proverbs 4:20-22 Take the time and concentrate on listening to God. Meditate on the word of God. Be attentive.
3. Humble spirit
Acknowledge the need you have to be able to listen to God. Psalm 25:9
4. Submissive spirit
Deuteronomy 11:13 Submit yourself to God and say, “Lord whatever you say I’m going to be obedient.”
5. Expectant spirit
Anticipating God to speak into your life. Proverbs 8:34

Pray with me please
Father God, You are amazing. There is no way to even try to describe how awesome You are. With all of our hearts we cry holy, holy, holy. Thank You for always being there for Your children. The love You show us is so incredible. We are in awe of You. I pray that our hearts would be receptive to Your truths in Your word. We ask that You would help us to prioritize our time so that You are first and that we would be able to listen to what You are saying. May we daily be meditating on Your word. Lord, may we hunger and thirst for Your righteousness. We pray that You would develop in us a teachable, attentive, humble, submissive and expectant spirit. Help us to boldly seek You with all of our hearts. For it is in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
