There is hope for our marriages through the word of God. We need to be seeking scripture for this as well as for everything in our lives. The focus we should have is on God. Remember the J.O.Y. acronym? Jesus first, Others second and Yourself last spells JOY. Jesus first in our selves, Jesus first in our marriages, Jesus first in our parenting, Jesus first with our extended family, Jesus first in our friendships, Jesus first at our place of employment and Jesus first in our entertainment. We need to put Jesus first. Then we will be able to spell JOY in our selves, marriages, parenting, family, friendships, work and entertainment. In order to put Jesus first, let’s look to the word of God for our answers.
Genesis 2:24 NLT This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.
Hebrews 13:4 NLT Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.
Proverbs 18:22 NLT The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord.
Ephesians 5:33 NLT So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Colossians 3:18-19 NLT Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.
God is for our marriages. He will help you with your marriage if you turn to Him for guidance, strength, wisdom and reassurance. He is right there waiting to help. The question is, are we going to allow Him to come in? Make no mistake, marriage is hard work, but it is always worth it. The grass is NOT greener on the other side of the proverbial fence! It is time that we roll up our sleeves and get busy working on our marriages. We need to let the light of God shine in this dark world and stop satan from having his way in our lives. Satan is the only one happy when marriages fail.
1 Corinthians 7:2- 11 NLT But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband. 3 The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. 4 The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife. 5 Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 6 I say this as a concession, not as a command. 7 But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another. 8 So I say to those who aren’t married and to widows—it’s better to stay unmarried, just as I am. 9 But if they can’t control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It’s better to marry than to burn with lust. 10 But for those who are married, I have a command that comes not from me, but from the Lord. A wife must not leave her husband. 11 But if she does leave him, let her remain single or else be reconciled to him. And the husband must not leave his wife.
Mark 10:9 NLT let no one split apart what God has joined together.
I would like to pray for our marriages. Join me please. Cry out to God and let this be a prayer for your marriage as well.
Father God,
Thank you for the gift of marriage. You instituted the very first union in Adam and Eve. You said in Genesis 2:18, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Today, I bring before You our marriage and the marriages of every one reading. I ask for Your blessing upon us. I pray that we would love one another more than we love our own self. I pray that we would remain unified as one flesh before You. Help us to remain faithful to one another. I ask You for Your power to come upon us from on high and that our marriage would be one of love, light, wisdom and strength. I pray that we would release our own separate will and that our unified will would be, that Your will would be done in our lives. Respect is huge in this world, Father. You knew that it would be. It makes a man feel good to know that he has the respect of his wife. It builds him up. I pray that I would find new and inventive ways to show respect for my husband. I ask You to open all of our husbands eyes, that they could find new and exciting ways to show the love that they have for us. Help us to honor You through our marriage union. I pray that satan would not have his way in tearing this union apart. I seek Your divine guidance in everything I do or say as a spouse for it is in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
We are instructed to bear one another’s burdens, (Galatians 6:2) so if there are any prayer requests feel free to leave them in the comment section. I would be honored to pray with you. If it is more private you can always contact me via email at luckd61@yahoo.com I check that every day. Blessings to you all, till we meet again, tomorrow, if the Lord is willing. Peace.

This is an excellent post.
I particularly like when you said that husbands need the respect of their wives. This is essential to a happy marriage, and a happy family.
Let us continue to ask the Lord to show us ways to demonstrate respect for our husbands. 🌷🤗

Yes, I am so grateful to God for seeing us through the rough younger days. I do not know how I would have fared without my wonderful husband! He’s my best friend. After 58 years, I love him now more than ever. Thanks for reminding me to tell him so at least every day! ♥️🤗

Thank you. God laid it on my heart to write. I believe satan and his demons are working overtime. Thankfully our God is more powerful than any evil forces. God be with you! Hugs. 🙂
