Got Anxiety?

1 John 4:18 NLT Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

Quit believing the lies of the enemy. He plants doubt, worries and fears in our minds so that we can not be fully functioning in the gifts of the Spirit. If he keeps us looking at fear or doubts and insecurities instead of looking to the word of God for our answers, then he is the victor. A defeated Christian is one that satan doesn’t have to worry about them applying the word of God and walking in the power of the Spirit. Let’s look to the word of God for our answers. Instead of telling yourself that you are afraid of such and such or feeding the negative, I suggest that we focus instead on the word of God and repeat the following verses to ourselves.

Isaiah 41:10 NLT Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Joshua 1:9 NLT This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Exodus 14:14 NLT The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.

Some trues we can tell ourselves. This is not a complete list and I challenge you to look to the word of God and find some promises that you can apply to your life as well as these ones. Speak truth. (Ephesians 4:25)

  • God is with me.
  • The Lord is my God.
  • God will strengthen me.
  • God will help me.
  • God will hold me up with His victorious right hand!
  • The Lord will fight for me.

Fear is a lack of belief and it is an open door to the enemy for him to come in and try to kill, steal and destroy. Our weapon is the word of God (Romans 10:17). There are so many truths in His word for you to follow. Start speaking these truths to the enemy. Speak peace now instead of fear. Peace over your mind, home, family and well being. Peace over your relationships, the economy and crisis of any kind. Speak peace (Luke 10:5, 1 Samuel 25:6, Isaiah 32:18).

Philippians 4:4-9 NLT   Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. 8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Father,

Oh blessed heavenly father, The One who was and is and is to come, the Lord Almighty (Revelation 1:8). Great and mighty are You Lord (Deuteronomy 10:17). We praise You and exalt Your name above all. Your name is above fear, anxiety, depression, doubt and worry. Your word says that at the name of Jesus, whose name is above every name, that every knee should bow (Philippians 2:9-10, Ephesians 1:21). All authority has been given to Jesus (Matthew 28:18). There is nothing that can stand before You Lord. Every knee shall bow. (Say out loud) I speak to the spirit of fear, anxiety, depression and worry, I command you to flee in the name of Jesus. Lord God, where the enemy has tried to gain a foothold in my life in these areas, I pray that You would fill me with Your Holy Spirit, so that if the enemy comes back with even more of his demons that he would find the house full and not be able to enter (Luke 11:24-25).  I claim that You are Lord over my mind and I will read and follow Your word for my guidance. I will not fear for You have not given me a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Help me to turn to You and choose faith over fear, for my life is in Your hands. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
