Matthew 23:15 NASB Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
Reminder of definition of woe and synonyms for hypocrite from yesterday.
A biblical definition of the word woe we learned yesterday is:
The word “woe” is often used to express grief, regret, misfortune or grievous distress stated from such a great affliction of some sort or being in such trouble that an escape out of it seems impossible.
Some synonyms for hypocrite are: pretender, deceiver, imposter and phony.
They were trying to lead men to their ‘sect’ not to God. They were not teaching and training in the ways of the Lord.
God desires all of our heart (Luke 10:27). We are not to have just an outward appearance and not an inward change (1 Peter 3:3-4). He desires first place in our lives. He is Lord over all creation. See my blog titled, First of the Ten Commandments for more on God being first. https://thefathersfeet.wordpress.com/2020/03/11/first-of-the-ten-commandments/
We are here to honor God by loving Him and all of His children. Even the wrong doers we are to love (Luke 6:35). We are not the judge here, God is (Matthew 7:1).
So we are to follow Him, love Him and all of His creation, and do His will in our life. To read more about the will of God check out my post titled God’s Will. https://thefathersfeet.wordpress.com/2020/03/27/gods-will/
Listen, we need to get it right. The end is near. See my post titled, Be Ready https://thefathersfeet.wordpress.com/2020/01/23/be-ready/ Not everyone who says to God, Lord, Lord will enter into heaven. Only those who do His will (Matthew 7:21). So watch who you follow, what you like and where people try to lead you. Hide His word in your heart that you might not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11).
Luke 6:27-36 NASB “But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. 30 Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. 31 Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. 32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
We read yesterday in my blog titled, The First and Second Woe of Jesus and Truth of His Word, where the Bible says if anyone preaches a different gospel, let them be accursed. (Galatians 1:9)
Pray with me please
Father God, You are holy. There is none like You in all the earth. In our best imaginings we cannot understand the immense greatness with which You are.
We are here Lord, Your children, united by Your love and in Your freedom. Psalm 107:2 says, Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! Indeed we say You have rescued us, justified us, vindicated us, saved us, atoned for us, redeemed us, and You have set us free. Thank You for Your great love!
Lord, I pray, as we have freely been given that we would freely give (Matthew 10:8). Let us honor You by extending mercy, grace, compassion and forgiveness to others even before they even ask for it. While hanging on the cross, Jesus cried, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do!” (Luke 23:34) May His mind be in us (Philippians 2:5), that we could and would forgive those who have wronged us. Also, Lord, I pray that we would do it immediately, without them even having to say they are sorry. Jesus didn’t wait for an apology and neither should we, who are in Christ.
We should be new creations daily growing in wisdom, Your wisdom (2 Corinthians 5:17 & 2 Peter 3:18). Help us, Father, to be pleasing in Your sight. May we not be that lukewarm Christian (Revelation 3:16), but rather be the one who is set on fire with Your Holy Spirit and zeal (Luke 3:16). We love You Lord and want our lives to honor You with everything we do and everything we say. May we bring glory to Your name. Praise You Lord, our Wonderful God who Was and Is and Is to come the Lord God Almighty. Jehovah-Jireh, my Provider, The Prince of Peace, The Great I Am, The King of kings and Lord of lords, My God, The One who sees me, It is in Your Great Name I pray, Jesus. Amen.
