Matthew 5:3-12 NASB
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 “Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
10 “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Pray with me please
You have said in Your word that we are blessed when we are beaten down, blessed when we have no hope in and also see the brokenness of this world, blessed when we don’t push back, strive, cheat and scheme to succeed, blessed when we want justice, mercy, kindness and truth in this world, blessed when we are not eager to condemn the people of this world, but rather assume the best, seek to understand and are quick to forgive, blessed when we have not been corrupted by this world, and can still see beauty and our hearts lean toward that which is right, loving and good, blessed when we seek reconciliation between You and man, and between friends and neighbors, blessed when we push through some suffering and bear a little shame in order to pursue the Kingdom of God on earth –You have said, “for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” We desire that blessing from all of these things, Lord. For we know that is when Your hand will be on us leading, guiding and protecting. Help us to walk in the fullness of Your power and exemplify each and every one of these characteristics as a true Christ follower.
Help us, if we have fallen down, to get back up and declare Your truth to this lost world. The world, that You love, needs to see us showing them the truth in every instance in our life. Pour out Your Spirit upon all flesh, Father, and let us be the visionaries, the dreamers, the prophesiers, the teachers, the pastors and the evangelists. Let Your word go out from us with such extreme love, power and conviction. We are surrendered to Your call. Have Your will and way in our lives and we will give You all of the glory for it is in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
