Keep Our Eyes Fixed On Jesus

John 14:1-6 NASB   “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And you know the way where I am going.” 5 Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” 6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

I can say the following with personal experience. In today’s world it is so easy to get our eyes on the circumstances and terrible things that are happening around us. I believe with all of my heart that God wants us to keep our eyes fixed on Him (Hebrews 12:2, Philippians 3:14 & Matthew 14:22-33) The world, the news (real and fixed) can bring us down. Google it and see what the results are from watching too much violence. There are several news articles pertaining to it and what to do from a worldly stand about stress accompanied by it. These things will deplete us of joy, strength and even our victory. If we watch too much garbage we become weary, agitated, upset, angry and frustrated. Here is a list from the Bible (our compass, direction) of things we are to think about.

Philippians 4:8  KJV   Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

God knows what is going on in our world. Psalm 147:5 says His understanding has no limit. He even predicted all these things would come to pass (Matthew 24). But He told us to keep our eyes on Him and not on the storm. He is above the storm and He will keep us safe from it as well as long as we keep our eyes fixed on Him. How can we walk in the fullness of God when we are weighted down with earthly concerns? (Galatians 5:16)  We have to shake it off (Hebrews 12:1). There is nothing that we can do about things that are happening by worrying anyways (Matthew 6:25-34).  I am not saying to be oblivious to what is going on around you. Just do not  be consumed by it. I would honestly say 30 minutes a day is more than enough time for garbage. Set a timer! I am not even kidding.

We need to be fully desiring and digesting the word of God (1 Peter 2:2). This is where our time is best spent in the presence of the Lord through prayer and reading His word. We have to have His knowledge to be able to fulfill His call on our lives. The scripture says to pray continually and make our requests known before God (Philippians 4:6). We have a lot to pray for! Our families, homes, churches, neighborhoods, peace, equality, love, mercy and the power of the Almighty to be exemplified in our lives. Imagine walking in the fullness of His power! Let us all draw near to God and He will draw near to us. We are to cleanse our minds and purify our hearts (James 4:8).

Fix our eyes on Him and pray (Hebrews 12:2). The time to pray is now, Seek the Lord as you have never sought Him before. Watch the joy and glory of His presence erase the doom and gloom, despair and negativity in your life. Our God is good (Psalm 145:9). He loves to give good gifts to His children (Matthew 7:11).  We can rise above all of the turmoil, chaos and confusion. We must rise above so that we can be the light that the world so desperately needs now more than ever (Matthew 5:14-16). We cannot be that light when we are burdened down and consumed with the cares of the world.

Make a difference in any way that you know how. The Bible says that true and undefiled religion before the Father is to visit the widows and orphans in their time of need and to keep yourself unspotted from the world (James 1:27). Come on brothers and sisters, let’s be the light!

If social media, or the news is getting you down, then turn it off. The world will go on whether you choose to absorb it all in, or not.

We need to spend more time with the Lord in His word and in prayer (Ephesians 6:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 & 2 Timothy 2:15).  Please let’s run to His feet so that we can be lifted up by our great Father (Luke 10:38-42), the King of the universe (1 Timothy 1:17). Great and mighty is He (Psalm 147:5)!

Psalm 118:1 NKJV    Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Heavenly Father,

I praise and exalt Your name. You said if I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me (John 12:32).  I pray that men everywhere would be drawn into a very close and oh so personal relationship with You. God, that no one anywhere would be able to snatch them out of Your hand because they have fully surrendered their lives to You and are walking in the fullness of Your authority, realizing their position on this earth as Your representative (John 10:28-30 & 2 Corinthians 5:20). In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

  1. “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face…” 🎶🙏🏽❤️ “…and the things of earth will grow strangely dim…” 🎶💕👌🏽 “… in the light of His glory and grace.” 🎶✌🏽😍 Ah Yes, Donna, I do notice how the frustrations, despair, and troubles of this world are replaced by love, joy, and peace when I turn off the TV and turn on the calm of His presence. Thank you for your scripture choices today. I appreciate you. Have a lovely weekend.

    1. I have done art with my daughters, but my main focus right now is the blog. I love reading God’s word. I do alot of pedal biking on my free time. I also enjoy walking. I walk almost 6 miles or more every day.

      1. Good for you. What state do you live in that you can walk 6 miles a day? Being in Arizona, at 630pm at night when it has dropped to 105, I hike a half hour. 🙂

      2. Wisconsin and I usually do the majority of walking in my house. Nice and cool. Getting a fitbit was my incentive. Started at 10000 steps for a healthy heart. Upped it to 15,000 a day and usually get much more lol.
