As For Me

Joshua 24:14-15 NASB   “Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Brothers and sisters, we have choices in life. God has given us all a free will (Matthew 22:37). We can choose to serve Him or not. It is that simple. Once we decide to give our hearts to Jesus, thereby having invited Him in, then we have a choice. There is always a choice. Every day we have multiple choices.

  • Are we going to follow Him and produce fruit? (Matthew 3:8 & John 15:8)
  • Are we going to love as he showed us to love? (John 13:34-35)
  • Are we going to listen to His still, small voice that is guiding our footsteps? (John 10:27)
  • Are we going to lie, steal or gossip? (Proverbs 6:16-19 & Romans 13:9)
  • Are we going to murder-by-hating our brother, sister, or even our enemy? (1 John 3:15) That is a choice.
  • Are we going to control our words and make them words of encouragement and hope filled with the love of God or not? (1 Peter 3:10-11, Hebrews 10:24-25 & Ephesians 4:29)

Let us choose wisely and feed the right wolf so to speak. I am going to copy the following story from online.

Story-about-two-wolves

“The Wolves Within”

An old grandfather said to his grandson, who came to him with anger at a friend who had done him an injustice. “let me tell you a story.

I too at times, have felt a great hate for those who have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do.

But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times.” He continued, “It is if there are two wolves inside of me. One is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him, and does not take offense when no offense was intended, He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way.

But the other wolf, ah! He  is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of a temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing.

Sometimes, it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit.”

The boy looked intently into his Grandfather’s eyes and asked, “Which one wins, Grandfather?”

The Grandfather smiled and quietly said, “The one I feed.”

So, I would ask you today, my fellow Christ-follower, which wolf are you feeding? As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. I believe that is with every single thought, action or step we take every moment of every day. Remember we must give account to God of every idle word we speak (Matthew 12:36 & Romans 14:12).

Will we make mistakes? Oh, I am certain of it. I know I still make mistakes. The thing is; we might fall down, but we do not have to stay down. Reach up, the Father is waiting with arms open wide. He loves you more than anyone at any time in all of your life. His love is true.

Luke 15:18-20 NASB    I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men.”’ 20 So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

Pray with me please

Heavenly Father,

I thank You for Your goodness. I can trust You, Lord. Your love is unfailing. Your grace picks me up every time I fall. You love me with such an incredible all encompassing, never-ending, agape love. I just cannot praise or thank You enough for all that You are. Please accept these words that come from my heart and know that I desire to fully walk in complete surrender, for I truly love You so much. I want to love You even more. If that is possible Father, please let it happen. Help me always walk in a way that is pleasing to You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
