Yes, we need to be reacting in the Spirit and not in the flesh (Romans 8:5-9). Trust me, there have been so many times that I have wanted to react in the flesh. I have wanted to pick up offense, judge, lash out, and justify my own case. I have learned to lay it all down before the Father. I am not the judge. Jesus is the judge (John 5:22).
I think it is human tendency to protect ourselves. It is a defense mechanism. We have to learn, through submission to the Lord, that we can trust Him. It is in laying down our ‘will’ that we gain so much more.
There is such freedom in serving Christ. Human reasoning cannot perceive, but I have seen that in all of my life, the times that I was most joyous and blessed were the times that I was walking close to the Lord. Near Him, as His dear child, we can walk hand in hand with; forgiveness, love, justice, compassion and mercy. Hand in hand, with our Savior. He is there waiting for us with His arms open wide. The choice is ours. It always has been. Choose this day whom you will serve (Joshua 24:15).
The Lord is near to the broken.
Psalm 34:18 NASB The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears And rescues them from all their troubles. 18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
God rescues the weak and needy.
Psalm 82:4 Rescue the weak and needy; Save them from the hand of the wicked.
Dearest and most holy, Heavenly Father,
I come before You today truly humbled at Your great love and provision. You continue to show Yourself to me, more and more as the One I can totally trust. I thank You for Your great mercy and compassion.
Today I want to lift up my brothers and sisters who are reading this prayer. I pray that they would lay aside any and all grievances and things which would separate them in any way from You. I ask that they would come to know You in such a strong and powerful way, that no thing and no one would be able to stop them in their determination to be even closer to You. I pray that they would seek peace, compassion, mercy, forgiveness and most of all love. If there is a choice between doing wrong and doing right, I pray that they would always do what is right. I ask You to unite their hearts and minds with the truth of Your word.
I pray that no harm would befall them. I ask You to keep them safe under the shadow of Your wing (Psalm 91:4).
Help them to lay down all selfish pride, arrogance and rebellion (Philippians 2: 3-4 & Hebrews 12:1). Let Your children be free from the chains that bind them. May they realize the power that they possess in Your name (Philippians 2:9-10).
I ask that their minds not be clouded and their hearts not be burdened with the cares of this world. I pray that You would fill them with joy (Romans 15:13). Let Your will be done in every life as we all surrender to Your Lordship. In Jesus’ name.
