Jesus demonstrated patience in the scriptures listed below. We are to exemplify Christ-like behavior (Ephesians 5:1-2). We have no right to judge (Matthew 7:1), speak evil (Titus 3:2), or treat harshly anyone at any time (1 Timothy 5:1-2). We are told that we are to love God and to love others, yes even our enemies. For God is love (1 John 4:19-21, Matthew 5:43-48 & 22:37-40). They will know we are Christians by our love (John 13:35).
Isaiah 53:7 NLT He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.
Matthew 27:14 NLT But Jesus made no response to any of the charges, much to the governor’s surprise.
John 8:6-7 NLT They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. 7 They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!”
We have no business or right to throw any stones. Lay them down friends. Let’s walk in love as true followers of Christ.
Dearest and most holy heavenly Father,
You are Lord over all creation. You are good and of Your kingdom there is no end (Luke 1:33). You will have mercy on whom You will have mercy (Romans 9:15). You are just and righteous. I praise You for You are worthy of all praise (Revelation 4:11). Help us, Your children, to love not just in word and in deed but with actions and in truth (1 John 3:18). Help us to show Christ-like behavior by being patient and not returning evil for evil (1 Peter 3:9). May we decide today that we will throw down any stones that we may be holding against anyone and that we will clothe ourselves with Your love and power of forgiveness from on high. We will trust in You that You will have Your will and way in our lives and in this nation (Matthew 6:10). We call forth Your goodness and mercy in our life. As we have obtained mercy, may we be the first to show the unmerited mercy, so that non-believers will be drawn to You through our submission to You. We pray asking everything in Jesus’ name (John 14:13). Amen.
