We have to be doing the right things for the right reasons. It is not enough to say that you are a Christian. It is time that the body of Christ show that we are Christians. We will do that by our love and patience. We must exemplify the fruit of the Spirit as stated in the Bible. Galatians 5:22-23 says But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. The book of Romans chapter 12:12 says to Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. (Romans 5:3-4)
Through scripture we see that patience is pleasing to God.
Ecclesiastes 7:8 NKJV The end of a thing is better than its beginning;
The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
2 Corinthians 6:4 NLT In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.
Revelation 2:2-3 NLT I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars. 3 You have patiently suffered for me without quitting.
Patience as defined in the holy Bible:
1. The suffering of afflictions, pain, toil, calamity, provocation or other evil, with a calm, unruffled temper; endurance without murmuring or fretfulness. Patience may spring from constitutional fortitude, from a kind of heroic pride, or from christian submission to the divine will.
2. A calm temper which bears evils without murmuring or discontent.
3. The act or quality of waiting long for justice or expected good without discontent.
Let’s look at another scripture:
James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the LORD has promised to those who love him.
Persevere brother or sister. Be patient in trials. Run the race. Don’t give up. The One who called you is faithful (1 Thessalonians 5:24). He will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). He is able to do all things. Our God is a mighty God. Just praise Him. No matter what you are going through. He deserves our praise. There is no one like our God. One day heaven and earth will pass away but His words will not pass away (Matthew 24:35). We will live forever with our King. Let’s show Him how much we love Him now by our complete surrender.
Father God, Lord of all creation,
We come to You today a broken people. We are so sorry for the sins and fleshly desires that keep popping up in our lives. We ask for Your forgiveness. Lord, today we want to lay at Your feet any and all pride, resentment, hatred and anger. These things are not of You. We cannot walk in Your fullness while carrying them around. So we lay it all at Your feet. Your word tells us in Ephesians 4:31 to Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Those have no place in our minds, hearts or lives. We have received so much from You. We have received unconditional love, grace and mercy. You gave Your all on the cross (John 3:16). The least we can do is humble ourselves, admit our sins and beg for Your mercy (James 4:10, 1 John 1:9 & Luke 6:36). Breathe on us Your life changing power to walk in newness of life. Help us to live in such a way that when our time comes we can just continue walking with You, hand in hand with our sweet Savior. Let us be free to love and to walk in Your fullness. Father, You are so good. We thank and praise You for all that You are doing, have done and are going to do. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). We ask all things in Jesus’ name.
