Surrender

James 1:22 & 26 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.  26.If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

Here’s the white flag. I surrender to my Lord and Savior. I pray that His will will be done on earth as it is in heaven. He alone holds the answers to all the questions. He has all the solutions in the palm of His hand. No problem is too big for Him. Everything will work out for His glory. He will have His way (Isaiah 46:10). We, as humans, do not know what is best. Not truly. Not 100 percent. We cannot see the end from the beginning. What if God has ordained that the person who doesn’t believe in Him will have their own Saul to Paul moment, then they will be a servant of the Lord.

It is possible. Just think, then if that person became president wouldn’t you have wanted to pray desperately for him? Remember Jesus saying to us to love our enemies (Matthew 5:44)? I am pretty sure that means pray for them. What better way to show our enemies love, then to pray for their salvation? Have we so quickly forgotten that we were once covered with sin? What if no-one had prayed for us? Our families? Our children? This is serious business. We aren’t called to be mockers (Jude 1:18). We aren’t called to divide (Jude 1:19). What we are called to do is love and pray for all. Let’s look to the Lord’s prayer for our example.

Matthew 6:9-13 “This, then, is how you should pray: ” ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Dearest heavenly Father,

Your name is holy. We don’t know how to pray sometimes. So we’re following Jesus’s great example. Thy kingdom come and thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We pray Your will be done for the upcoming election. Nothing can thwart Your will. What You have purposed will come to fruition. I love that we can trust in You in all things. You are our King no matter who is president. We pray for all parties because that is what we are supposed to do according to Your word. I pray for all those running for office that they would know You as their Lord and personal Savior. Father, help them to see the error of their ways. Let a great cleansing start in every single one of their lives and the lives of their families.

I pray that Your love would pour out over America. I ask that the leaders of all 50 states would recognize their need for You as their Savior. Pour out over our leaders and those running for office in all departments. I pray for Your Spirit to pour out over the newscasters. Yes every single one of them. Oh Father, let them see You. Let them see You in us, Your children. I pray for an outpouring of Your Holy Spirit over our homes, schools, neighborhoods and businesses.

I ask that blinders would come off, people would pursue peace, and America would truly be great because we would be a country that has turned back to You! I beg You to come down and shake things up. Oh, if all the people got just a small taste of Your love. They are empty, Father, and that emptiness can only be filled with Your great love. Forgive us our debts as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. We need wisdom from above so that we would not be lured by the enemy or the flesh into temptation. Protect us from evil. Help us, as Your army, the church, to rise above! Help us to walk in a manner worthy of our calling (Ephesians 4:1). To not be turned to the left or to the right, but that our faces would be turned straight towards You and Your purposes (Proverbs 4:27). We want to be pleasing in Your sight, oh Lord, our Redeemer. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in Your name (Psalm 20:7). The Lord God Almighty. Jehovah Jireh our Provider. The One and Only true God who Was and Is and Is to come. In Your name Jesus we pray. Amen.
