Mark 4:35-41 NASB On that day, when evening came, He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
Jesus gave us the same power to calm the seas. The same power that the Father used to raise Jesus from the dead is at work in us (Ephesians 1:19-20)! We just need to have faith! Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Speak peace to your storms. Do it without doubt, because he who doubts is unstable in all his ways (James 1:6-8). We have our feet planted in the word of God. Our strength comes from Jesus. There is nothing that He cannot do! His power is alive in us! We have to believe. Believe in Him, His power and His word. If only we had the faith, we could be flipping 4-wheelers (literally)! Read my blog titled, ‘Revealing God’s Power’ to see how he flipped a 4-wheeler for me.
Don’t give up, child of God! Have faith. His words are true (Psalm 119:160). What He has said He will do (Numbers 23:19). We are safe in His hands.
Dearest Lord, our heavenly Father,
All praise honor and glory to Your holy name now and forevermore. You are awesome! We raise our hands in surrender to Your greatness. We praise You and ask for Your help in our lives. We need to understand and appropriate Your great power, Lord. Please reveal to us, in our innermost being, that You are alive and all-powerful. Help us to speak to the storms in our lives and realize we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). That is Your word, Lord and You are not a man that You should lie (Numbers 23:19). What You have said is truth. We have solid ground to be anchored in. We do not need to waver. Help us to draw nearer to You so that we can hear, understand and apply Your great word to our lives. We love You and want to be fully functioning in the great power of Your Holy Spirit. Help us as we walk, to continue dying to the flesh and living in Your Spirit, so that we could bring You honor. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
