Matthew 15:9 Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.
2 Timothy 4:3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.
So what do we do? Watch and pray. (Matthew 26:41) Stand firm in what we know to be truth. (1 Corinthians 16:13) Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers'” That tells us that there will be some that have a form of godliness but inwardly do not know our great Savior. They are those who are out proclaiming what they think and not what the word of God says.
2 Timothy 4:1-2 I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom: 2 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
There should be no watering down, taking away from, changing to fit our needs, or leaving certain parts out of the word of God. (Revelation 22:19) Remember 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
The devil and his demons and generals will try to trick and deceive us. We have to be on guard with the armor of God active in our lives. We have to know the truth. In John 8:31-32 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
You are our great Creator, Redeemer and Friend. You have called us by name. We are Yours (Isaiah 43:1)! You have given us truth in Your word. We do not have to believe the lies of the enemy. We see his trickery and scheming. We are not blind to his devices. Thank You for Your all-powerful word which can smash any and All lies of satan. Lord, pour Your Spirit on us so that we can be like the five wise virgins who were prepared (Matthew 25:1-13). How can we be the light as a city on a hill if we don’t have Your oil (Matthew 5:14)? We cannot. We must follow You wholeheartedly, not being led astray. Help us to fully digest all of Your word. We need Your continued help to die to the flesh and live by the Spirit (Romans 8:13). Help us, so that we can bring glory to Your great name. Let our eyes be opened and our hearts purposed to serve You completely. Fill our minds with Your word and direct our path. For we ask all things in Jesus’ name. Amen
