Wake Up Part 2

In continuation of yesterday’s blog, I have to say that homosexuality, whore-mongering, adultery, fornication (sex between unmarried consenting adults) and incest are wrong. These are all sexual sins that are running rampant in our society. Whenever we sin sexually we are doing so against our own body. Every other type of sin is on the outside. Our bodies, that we are to honor God with, are not our own. We have been bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:16-20).

Because God lives in us, we should never condone or join in any sexual sin. Church, wake up! We have to be a light in the darkness. Love the sinner, but hate the sin (Jude 1:23, Romans 12:9). Romans 5:8 says God loved us even while we were sinners! We are to exemplify His love to those who are lost. We have to correct in love, considering ourselves lest we also be tempted. When we see our brother or sister overtaken in a fault, the Bible says You who are spiritual, restore that person with a spirit of meekness, gentleness and humility (Galatians 6:1).

Jesus was our great example in the story of the woman, taken to Him, who had been caught in the act of adultery. It was customary then to stone such a one. So the people had their stones ready! What did Jesus say? ‘You who are without sin, cast the first stone.’ They dropped their stones and walked away. His response to her then? “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more” (John 8:2-11). There we see, our Guide, giving great mercy and wisdom. If Jesus didn’t condemn her, who are we to hold stones?

It definitely is NOT right to be in sin. In Matthew 5:28 Jesus raises the bar by saying, “anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” With God, it is a heart issue (1 Samuel 16:7). It is wrong to even think of the things that are done in the dark (Ephesians 5:11-12). We need to check our attitudes and love like Jesus did. That is how we rescue the perishing and bring honor to our name, Christian. We are children of the most high God. Joint heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:16-17)! Let us walk in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7). Jesus will judge. We are to love (John 13:34), knowing that the Bible says, people who do such will not enter into heaven. Also, we know what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sexual sins (Genesis 19). We should have mercy and compassion on them, letting God shine through us, with His love. They will know we are Christians by our love.

Known offenders should not hold positions in the church, or be encouraged to continue in their sin. They should be loved and lifted in prayer to God for Him to take the blinders off of their eyes and draw them close to His side. Where He alone can save their souls. We will win the lost through His love.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, ¹⁰ or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. ¹¹ Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Leviticus 18:22 You shall not sleep with a male as one sleeps with a female; it is an abomination.

Father God,

You are holy. Your words are righteous and true. You lead us forth with love. You have showed the most sacrificial love at the cross. Your whole Word is filled with Your love. You are not mean! You are good. You have showed us what is right and what You desire from us. That is to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with You (Micah 6:8). Help us to walk in a way that is pleasing to You. Let every thing that we do be done with Your guidance, with Your great love and mercy. We accept the great responsibility to be Your ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20). May our lives turn others to You through Your love shining through us. Let them see You in us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
