Seeking

What is the definition of seek in the Bible? The seeking is the conscious effort to get through the natural means to God himself—to constantly set our minds toward God in all our experiences, to direct our minds and hearts toward him through the means of His revelation. This is what seeking God means.

Seeking the Lord means our conscious effort to get through the natural means to: His presence, His face, His promises, His will, His perspective, His healing, His kindness, His righteousness, His mind, His heart, and His kingdom. We need to do this through the daily trials and temptations of life. We don’t set God aside when troubles come. We sit back and ask Him to take over! We lay aside our right to be angry, irritated or anything else and look through the lens of love at our problems. We start thanking God, singing to Him and worshipping Him through bad times.

2 Chronicles 20:17 You shall not need to fight in this battle; take your positions, stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord[Who is] with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Fear not nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.

Matthew 6:33 NASB But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 7:7 NASB Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Our most holy heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving us everything we need to get through this life. You are so awesome. I love the mercy that You show us. You know we are merely mortal. And You show us grace. You help us all the time. Even when we forget and make a mistake, You are right there to help, heal, forgive and deliver. We could never outrun Your love. Nothing can separate us from Your great love (Romans 8:39). Thank You for Your provision, protection and promises. We acknowledge that we have failed You with seen or unseen sins. We are truly sorry. We repent and ask for Your forgiveness (Acts 3:19). Help us to be Your children in word and deed (Colossians 3:17). May everything we do and say bring You glory. Wrap Your arms of love around us. Cleanse us with the water of Your word. Help us to deny our flesh and make, seeking Your face, be our hearts desire. You are so precious to us. We want, so badly, to get things right in this life. Remind us that we don’t always get a do over or a second chance to do things right. Give us such great power that we can overlook offenses (Proverbs 19:11). Keep us humble looking at our enemies and bad situations through Your great lens of love (1 Peter 5:6). May we make a difference for Your kingdom. We so want to hear You say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” We love You. Please keep us all safe today. May we always bring You honor. We ask all things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Wow! That’s a tall order! We are to seek “His presence, His face, His promises, His will, His perspective, His healing, His kindness, His righteousness, His mind, His heart, and His kingdom.” It’s a full time job! Happy First Sunday of Advent this weekend, {{{Donna}}}. Where did November go?? ❤
