Emotional walls, when built by us, are usually meant for self-preservation. When others hurt us, we immediately start putting up a wall. We might say or think something like, ” Well, I won’t let them or anyone else hurt me like that again.” Before we know it, we have quite a fortress surrounding our heart, trying to protect it by any means. Those very walls that we put up to guard us, are the very same walls that divide and isolate us, leaving us lonely. We therefore, self-sabotage, by our very own protection-mechanisms. Think about that for a minute.
Let’s change our focus for a minute now to wells, which unite and supply. Wells hold water which will refresh, revive and satisfy. Jesus said in John 4:13-14 if we drink the water He gives us will never thirst and His water will turn to a well of water springing up to eternal life. His word is water for our soul. When the water of the world (temporary pleasures) fade away, we can have joy, peace, discernment and direction by keeping ourselves submersed in His word, where we actually thrive, and not only survive. We can be a blessing to others, through our dependence, upon Him. He supplies our every need and channels His living water through us to feed others the truth of His word. If we do not stay attached to the well of Living Water, we become dry and unable to give out. It is, therefore, another reason that we stay soaked, in the water of His word.

Heavenly Father,
Break down our walls. Anything that we have let the enemy get a foothold in our lives wit. (Ephesians 4:27). We lay at Your feet walls of indifference, callousness, pride, anger, resentment or any others. Oh. Lord, we trust You with all of those things. We ask that You continue to pour into us the water from Your word, that we never thirst again. Spring forth, oh most holy One, spring forth from our hearts. Wash away all the dirt, grime and despair. Let Your healing waters bring forth new life. We praise and thank You for Your healing and mighty work that You are doing in our lives. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10) We will praise You and give You all the glory for we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
