Revelation 3:19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.
God loves us so much that He will correct us to get us to turn away from our sin. We are to be deeply committed to Him and turn away from what He reveals to us is wrong.
Example: Someone insults us, so we, by the power of God, do not retaliate (this time), but hold on, there is more coming. Just because we won that battle, don’t think that satan will concede. Now we have to face the choice of blessing the offender or cursing. We know what the word of God says, but man, we feel so justified to just let them have it, so to speak, but through Christ we keep silent. Yay, we score, for now. The enemy is relentless though. He will bring the offense to our mind repeatedly. Don’t fall for that trap. You have done great so far. There it is again a choice. Now just forgive. Follow our Lord’s instructions. Do as He did. Love without limits or expectations (Luke 6:35). That’s being zealous. That’s walking on the water with Him. It is when we deliberately choose to do things His way, walking, hourly, in complete submission. We can rise above. We can be His children, in word and in deed. He is right there, reaching out His hand. He will hold and steady us. We must just, wholeheartedly, keep our eyes on Him (Hebrews 12:2).
Remember, we all fail and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). The thing is, we are just not supposed to stay down. Get back up, brother or sister, God is reaching out His hand. He hasn’t gave up on you. Don’t give up on Him or yourself. Keep trying. None of us have it all together. Don’t beat yourself up, there is no sense dwelling on past mistakes. Just repent and go forward. Look ahead to future victories with the Lord. The battle is not yours, it is God’s. He has you child, right in the palm of His hand (Isaiah 41:10).
How awesome, magnificent and holy are You. Your word says offenses will come (Luke 17:1). We thank You, that through You, we have the victory! (1 Corinthians 15:57) Great are You Lord. You do give life. You are our hope. You are our strength in the darkness. I love that song by Casting Crowns. Oh Father, accept the lyrics as coming from our hearts, while we worship You in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). We pray asking for Your protection on every area of our lives in Jesus’ name. Amen.
