March Madness

March Madness is one of the most popular sports events in the U.S. This is a time for basketball lovers, who devote the month of March to these annual college basketball tournaments. A lot of people who generally do not even follow basketball will watch the teams to see who will win. Because the tournament is single-elimination, the amount of teams is reduced by half each round, which is followed by rounds named after the number of teams left: the Sweet Sixteen, the Elite Eight, and the Final Four. The final two teams play in the National Championship game.

I would like for us to consider getting that interested in the Word of God and spending time in His presence. Being with Him and hearing from Him is better than anything this world has to offer.

Here are 16 interesting facts from the Bible.

  • There are 66 books in the Bible.
  • The Old Testament has 39 books.

Did you already know some of them? There are so many things to learn from the Lord through His precious word. Let’s get our own version of March Madness and get on fire for the Lord, His wisdom and His knowledge.

Dearest Lord and most holy heavenly Father,

We love, thank and praise You for Your abundant blessings You have bestowed upon Your people. We are so fortunate to have You as our Father. We pray that we would always put love first in all of our responses inside our relationships (1 John 4:7-8 & Philippians 2:3). We have that power because You are our Lord who goes before us and is with us (Deuteronomy 31:18). When we seek You first (Matthew 6:33-34), You give us the strength that we need (Philippians 4:13). We ask that You would pour out Your Spirit upon Your children and that no unwholesome talk would come out of our mouths (Ephesians 4:29). Help us to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry (James 1:19-20). We know that everything will work together for our good because we love You (Romans 8:28). Please give us the faith that we need to move mountains (Mark 11:23). Because You have such good things planned for us (Jeremiah 29:11), we will rest in Your provisions. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
