2 Peter 3:3-4 NKJV knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
A scoffer is one who mocks Christ, ridicules the things of God and opposes the gospel. Their purpose (from satan) is to discourage as many believers as they can from serving God.
Remember we can know who has the spirit of the antichrist, just ask the person if they believe that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. Those who say no He hasn’t are not of God and that is the spirit of the antichrist (1 John 4:3).
Beware of mockers. They either knowingly or unknowingly are being led by the spirit of the antichrist. Peter said they walk according to their own lusts. They spread garbage by saying things like ‘there is no such thing as rapture or the second coming of Christ’. They try to shift us believers focus from heaven and from Christ-centered living. The aim of the enemy is for our love for Christ to grow cold (Matthew 24:12). This is not a new tactic. Satan has been deceiving since the garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1).
We need to stay close to God. Living for Christ in today’s world is now frowned upon. Look around, the world is celebrating that which is evil. We, Christians, know that Jesus is coming back and we have to be ready and act in obedience to that which we know is true according to the word of God. We must decide in our hearts that we will walk with God even if it means walking alone. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15).
Oh Lord our God,
We ask that You give us the right words to speak at the right time and silence us when we are not to say a word. Help us to hear You clearly. May we have such sweet communion with You, that we would automatically know when we are to speak or remain silent. Let our surrendered lives bring You glory. Please keep us strong and on fire for You, Your will and Your ways. We believe that Jesus has come in the flesh and His is the name above every name. Praying in Jesus’ name. Amen.
