In order to know how we ought to live, we have to understand who God is. God is holy. God is Almighty. God is eternal. God is creator.
Revelation 4:1-11 NKJV Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. 4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:
“Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!”
9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
11 “You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created.”
Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Don’t seek to make yourself great. Humble yourself in the sight of God and He will lift you up (James 4:10). Pray. Remember that our prayers are like incense before God (Revelation 8:4).
We praise You and declare there is no-one like You in all the heavens or the earth. You have done so many great things and still You are at work for mankind. It is not Your will that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). You are good. We sing Your praises today, to the God who is and was and is to come the Lord God Almighty (Revelation 1:8). Great and mighty are You (Psalm 147:5). If we didn’t praise You the very rocks would cry out (Luke 19:40). Thank You for revealing Yourself to us over and over in scripture. Help us to walk in a manner that is pleasing in Your sight. Guide us as we travel in these days and we will give You all the praise for we ask all things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
