Hebrews 6:18-20 TLB He has given us both His promise and His oath, two things we can completely count on, for it is impossible for God to tell a lie. Now all those who flee to Him to save them can take new courage when they hear such assurances from God; now they can know without doubt that He will give them the salvation He has promised them.19 This certain hope of being saved is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls, connecting us with God Himself behind the sacred curtains of heaven, 20 where Christ has gone ahead to plead for us from His position as our High Priest, with the honor and rank of Melchizedek.
Promise defined is a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen.
Oath defined is a solemn calling to witness to the truth of what one says or to witness that one sincerely intends to do what one says.
An oath is a solemn pledge or promise and a promise is to commit to something. God has promised us that He will give us the salvation He has promised to those who have believed and asked Jesus to come into their heart and forgive them for their sins. The ones who are authentic. The ones who aren’t playing games by going to church, dressing just right and doing or saying the right things. God knows our hearts (1 Samuel 16:7). Be assured God will not be mocked. That which a man sows, he will also reap (Galatians 6:7). There must be a willing change inside us.
That being said, we can trust God that He has saved us. Jesus is our anchor. He has bridged the gap that separated us from God.
Pray with me please.
We thank You for Your word. Thank You for Your presence. Thank You for Your great love. Thank You that time and time again You are there for Your children. You are awesome and amazing. We praise Your holy name. Today we ask that we would be bearing fruit for Your kingdom. Help us to deny our flesh and live to please Your Spirit. May we walk in a manner worthy of our calling (Ephesians 4:1). May we be doers and not hearers only (James 1:22). Help us to not give up or get tired of doing that which is right in Your sight (Galatians 6:9-10). Oh, how we long for the day that we shall be with You. While we are here, please, keep us strong by Your great power living inside us. We ask that we would go to church, dress right, and do or say the right things for the right reasons. May it all be done out of love for You and with Your blessed guidance. Lead the way, God, we are going to follow. In Jesus’ name.
