Luke 6:27-28 KJV But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
Look to 1 Corinthians 13 to see what love is and then apply those actions to your enemies. The definition of enemy in the Cambridge English Dictionary is a person who hates or opposes another person and tries to harm them or stop them from doing something. So, love anyone who hates or opposes you.
We were all enemies of Christ’s before we got saved. While He was hanging on the cross, He cried out, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. He cried out for me, for you and for all of mankind. He doesn’t want any to perish (2 Peter 3:9). Jesus has bridged that gap to God. He was the perfect sacrifice. His blood that ran red for the sins of all mankind saved us from eternal separation from God the Father. As we have been forgiven much, let us also willingly forgive others (Colossians 3:13) and when they wrong us may we learn to say, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Then pray for them and bless them. Let’s live the way God has said for us to live in His word. We can do it through His power living in us. Are you with me?
Help us to love our enemies and not just those who are able to reciprocate that love and willingly love us also. Forgive us, for we know not what we do. We have a tendency to only love those who can and do love us back. Teach us the better way. We so need Your guidance. We are weak and we need Your strength. On our own we can do nothing but with You we can do all things (John 15:5 & Philippians 4:13). Help us to walk in faith (2 Corinthians 5:7). We cry out for more of Your love that we are to love others with. May all of our homes be filled with peace from above. Your beautiful gift that You give to those who are trusting You and those whose minds are fixed on You (Isaiah 26:3). We love You and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
