Be Faithful

Today’s word comes from Proverbs 5 which you can read here. Proverbs 5 NKJV – The Peril of Adultery – My son, pay – Bible Gateway

We read today about being faithful to your spouse. We are to teach this moral code of faithfulness to our children as well. In order to avoid immorality, it helps to be taught to avoid it. That develops a heart felt moral code, making it easier when faced with temptation to resist it.

There are repercussions for being unfaithful. In verse 10 we see a loss of wealth. Verse 11 shows a loss of health. Verses 12-14 shows self-regret. That remorse is horrible. Why go through the torment of how we beat ourselves up over it? It is best to avoid the temptation of unfaithfulness altogether.

We are to be satisfied, exhilarated, and have pleasure with our spouse. Remember that God sees all and will punish the wrongdoer. They will miss out on the life that God has for them.

If you have failed in this area, there is forgiveness available to a truly remorseful heart from a totally loving and forgiving God.

Pray with me please.

Father God,

We thank and praise You for the institution of marriage. You have said it is not good that man be alone and You made a helper for him. Your word says that marriage is to held in honor and the bed undefiled. You will judge the sexually immoral and the adulterers (Hebrews 13:4). You are righteous and holy in Your judgements. We are thankful for Your word which is our guide in all things.

We humble ourselves today and come before Your great throne asking for Your help in keeping ourselves pure in this area. We thank You for our spouse and plead the blood of Jesus over every relationship. We ask that You would help us to instill in our children the blessedness of marriage. We pray that they would see by our right living the wonder and joy in marriage. Thank You Lord for hearing and answering our prayers. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
