What is lacking in our homes, schools, society and governments today are morals and values, a code of conduct, a code of ethics. We need to be taught right from wrong. The best place to start is in our homes and with God’s word.
Some say we are under grace, so we do not have to follow rules. While I agree that we are under grace, I also agree that without rules there is chaos. We should want to do the right things for the right reasons (Romans 6:1-2). Well, what are those right things? We learn them as we study the word of God and grow in His grace and wisdom.
God, Himself, wrote the Ten Commandments on stone for people in the Old Testament. For more on them please read the following blog, https://thefathersfeet.wordpress.com/2020/03/10/the-ten-commandments/
Jesus said to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself. When we truly love our neighbor as ourselves we will not break any of the Ten Commandments because we will be walking in love. There is a Biblical definition of love found in 1 Corinthians 13.
The Holy Bible is not just a list of rules and regulations, What the Bible is is a love letter. God loves all of the people so much, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). That makes me want to know more about Him and His will for my life.
God’s instructions for healthy and helpful daily living are included inside the blessed pages. There are ups and downs in each of our life’s journey. But He is the One constant, of Whom we can always rely.
You are our great Lord and most wonderful Provider. We ask that You wake us up, Lord. Help us to not only learn Your word but also to teach Your word to those around us, especially by the change that You have made in our lives; by the way we act and the things we do or say. We ask for Your help in doing the right things for the right reasons. We ask You to display, through our surrendered lives, the definition of love as found in Your word. May we continually show others that love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous; love does not brag, love is not arrogant. Love does not act disgracefully, love does not seek its own benefit; love is not provoked, love does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, love does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; love keeps every confidence, love believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. and that Your love never fails. May we resound with Your love today and every day as we grow in Your grace and wisdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
