Condemnation leads to death. Satan goes around accusing and condemning (Revelation 12:10). It is his goal to hurt all of God’s children. He wants to destroy us (1 Peter 5:8). He wants to kill our testimony.
Conviction leads to life. The Holy Spirit convicts us when we are doing anything that is out of line with God’s plan for us (Ephesians 4:30). This conviction is meant to lead us to repentance. We have to listen to His still small voice. God doesn’t condemn His children. He knows that we are sinners saved by His grace. He is there to help us. He came so that we would have life (John 10:10).
Romans 8:1 NKJV There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Even as Christians we fail. We make mistakes. We are only to try really hard to do that which is right (Matthew 5:48). We aren’t supposed to knowingly sin (Hebrews 10:26). But when we do fail, we have an Advocate with the Father Who is Jesus Christ the Righteous (1 John 2:1). An Advocate, our Jesus, pleads our case for us. His love for us is beyond comprehension. He gave His life for us (1 John 3:16). He suffered so much in His flesh for our sins (1 Peter 4:1). That is why we should not want to sin anymore. We need to remember the high price of our salvation (John 3:16). No there isn’t a list of rules, only that which is etched in our hearts (Hebrews 10:16). So, love Him child of God. Love God and love others for that is the commandment Jesus gave (John 13:34). Out of love for Him, do that which you know to be right and true. Follow Him. Serve Him. Love Him completely with all of your heart, mind and soul (Matthew 22:37). If and when you sin, seek His forgiveness. He is merciful and loving.
We are so thankful for Your Holy Spirit, Who, brings conviction, not condemnation. Even in Your correction, You do it lovingly. You have such mercy for us. Even while we were sinners, Jesus died for us (Romans 5:8). Your love is so amazing. We thank You for the correction that leads to repentance and to life. Help us to not fall for the lies of the enemy who would try to crush, kill and destroy us. Feed us the truths of Your love. Our hearts and minds are open and receptive to what You have to say. We love You and lay our all at Your feet. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
