Spiritual maturity is growing in the Lord. The Bible says we go from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18).

As we read His word and spend time with Him in prayer, we get stronger in Him and we learn more of His will, which then creates spiritual maturity in us. We, humbly, thank God that we are not where we once were, but we are also not where we have yet to be. We are not perfect but we are to try really hard to be (Matthew 5:48).

For example, have you ever thought to yourself, ‘why did I do that’ or ‘man I wish I would have known better’…. well tonight as I was pondering that I understood more of how God doesn’t reveal all of our sins to us at once. That would be way too overwhelming. I believe His hand has all of the bad things we do covered and He just uncovers the perfect amount at exactly the right time by letting the light shine in. I think He lovingly lifts His hand up a little and then a little more light shines in. The light then reveals that which is unpleasing to the Lord, in us, and we then have opportunity to repent and draw even nearer to Him.

God is our constant. He is the bright Morning Star (Revelation 22:16). His love is stationary. He won’t move. Go with me for a second here. I like to think of God being like your television. In that, He doesn’t move away from us. Now we can move away from our television. We can go in the kitchen where the volume gets lower on what is being said on the TV. We can go further down the hall to the bedroom and barely hear our TV. We can even go down the road and not hear it at all. But the great thing about God is that as soon as we turn around and start coming back to Him, He is still there. He hasn’t went anywhere. When we get closer to the TV we can clearly hear it again. Same goes with God. The more we make time to read His word and pray to Him, He meets us right where we are. It is not complicated. His word is our love letter which is used to light our path (Psalm 119:105).

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you (James 4:8).

It breaks my heart when I sin, to think I have done or said anything that would be displeasing to Him. I tear up when I think of the cross and all that He went through for my sins. That thought of what great pain He went through is why I try to do my best everyday. I do not think any of us will ever be perfect. Nor could we do things to earn salvation from Him (Ephesians 2:8). I do what I know to be right because of my great love for Him. Unfortunately, there are times when I fail. The great news, though, is that He is there to pick me up every time I fall. He can pick you up too. Just turn to Him.

Philippians 3:12-15 NKJV

12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.

Father God,

In no way do we think we have attained spiritual perfection. We know that You are molding us and making us into beautiful vessels to bring You glory. We do thank You for reaching down and saving our souls from death and destruction. We thank You for Your great love. We just pray that we would continue to run this race, to run towards You in everything we say or do. Let our hearts, words and deeds be pleasing in Your sight, oh God, our Redeemer. Forgive us for the times we have failed and help us to turn to You immediately for restoration. We love You and declare Yours is the kingdom, Yours is the power, Yours is the glory forever. In the precious name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

  1. A great post.
I also try my best not to offend God, and others, every day.
And sure enough, at the end of each day, when I do an examination of conscience, I see that I have failed, in various ways.

God never wants us to succumb to scrupulosity, where we are highly upset over even the smallest failing, but, as you say, He is constant guiding us to greater closeness and maturity, if we co-operate with his plans for us. πŸŒΌπŸ€—
