1 Samuel 24:12,15 NKJV Let the Lord judge between you and me, and let the Lord avenge me on you. But my hand shall not be against you. 15 Therefore let the Lord be judge, and judge between you and me, and see and plead my case, and deliver me out of your hand.”
It is very interesting that David said almost the same thing twice in one chapter. David didn’t try to defend himself. He left the matter in the Lord’s hands for Him to judge. God is our Advocate. We do not have to fear what man may say or do (Hebrews 13:6). Perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). We bring our petitions to the Lord and we leave them in His hands (Ephesians 6:18). No where are we told to avenge ourselves, but rather to love our enemies (Luke 6:35). Remember Jesus said if a man lives by the sword, he will die from the sword (Matthew 26:52).
Father God,
You are good. Thank You for loving us and for showing us the better way. May we all continue to grow in You. Help us to deny our flesh and our ‘rights’ to judge others according to how the world says we can judge them. We want You to be pleased with our behavior. Please strengthen us to give matters of hurt and or betrayal to You for You to be our Judge. We can trust You. What joy that brings to our soul. Flood our hearts, homes and souls with Your amazing and wonderful peace. We love You and pray asking all things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
