Psalm 14:1-3 KJV The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
It is foolish for anyone to say there is no God. How sad to deny Him. God is God and there is no other (Hebrews 11:6). These verses are just so sad to me. Sad for anyone to deny God. Sad that people are corrupt and have done abominable works. Sad that none does good. Sad that none understand. Sad that none seek God. Sad that all are all filthy. Sad that our righteousness is like filthy rags before God (Isaiah 64:6).
But happy that God forgives those who repent (Acts 3:19). Happy that our names are then written in Heaven (Luke 10:20). Happy that Jesus is our advocate (1 John 2:1). Happy that we have eternal life with Him (John 3:15-17). Happy that Jesus is my Lord and Savior (1 John 2:2). Happy that God loves us right where we are (Romans 5:8). Happy that we do not have to ‘do’ anything to attain His love (Ephesians 2:8-10). Happy that He gave us His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in all truth (John 16:13). Happy that God cleans us up through Jesus’ blood that was shed on Calvary (Ephesians 2:12-13).
Father God,
We just want to thank You for giving us emotions. We have the ability to be joyful and laugh, or sorrowful and mourn, the ability to be angry or remain calm, we can be fearful, anxious and worry or we can trust.
You have set perimeters over time and seasons. Everything is in Your hands. We ask today that You would help us to control the things that You have given to us. We realize there is a place and a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). Help us to always and only do the things which are pleasing to You. May we forgive readily (Mark 11:26), love easily (John 13:34-35) and show mercy relentlessly (Luke 6:36). May You be pleased with our sacrifices of praise (Hebrews 13:15-16). May everything we do bring You honor (1 Corinthians 10:31). In Jesus’ name we pray (John 14:13). Amen.
