No Other Way

Proverbs 30:4-6 KJV Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is His name, and what is His son’s name, if thou canst tell? ⁵ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.⁶ Add thou not unto His words, lest He reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Today the part I would like to focus on is verse 4 at the end.

30:4, there is a prophetic notice of Him who came down from heaven to be our Instructor and Saviour, and then ascended into heaven to be our Advocate. The Messiah is here spoken of as a Person distinct from the Father, but his name as yet secret. The great Redeemer, in the glories of his providence and grace, cannot be found out to perfection. Had it not been for Christ, the foundations of the earth had sunk under the load of the curse upon the ground, for man’s sin. Who, and what is the mighty One that doeth all this? There is not the least ground to suspect anything wanting in the word of God; adding to his words opens the way to errors and corruptions.

Matthew Henry’s concise commentary

Jesus ascended up to Heaven and He is the One who came down from Heaven (John 3:13). God alone holds all power. God saw humanity’s need for redemption. God knew there was no way that we could be righteous in ourselves, so He sent His One and Only Son, so that whoever believes on Jesus shall be saved (John 3:16). Jesus took the punishment for all mankind on the cross. He was prophesied about in the above Old Testament scripture as well as many other OT scriptures. In the New Testament we see that Jesus fulfilled the OT prophecy.

Luke 4:21 KJV And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. There is no other way to God the Father, but by Jesus (John 14:6).

Father God,

Thank You for providing us with salvation through Your Son Jesus (John 3:16). Thank You that, even now, He intercedes for His people (1 John 2:1). Thank You that we are Your children (Romans 8:16-17). Thank You for proving Yourself to us in so many ways and at so many times. How perfect is Your love for all humanity. What sacrificial glorious love You have poured out for us. We sing hallelujah. We shout glory, glory, hallelujah! Every single thing we need is in You. We want for nothing because You have made all the provisions. We surrender to Your purposes for our lives. How great You are and how wonderful are Your thoughts to us (Psalm 139:17-19). We worship You! We adore You. May Your will be done in our lives and on earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10). In Jesus’ name. Amen.
