When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

While we were still sinners Christ died for us! I know this fact and yet when I read this part of His word (again and again) I feel so emotional just knowing that God loves us so much. There is nothing that we have to do to earn His love. He already loves us, even before we accept Him. That fact just amazes me. What a great love. This is our Father. He is the One we are to emulate. We are to strive to be Christ-like out of love for Him. We may fail and fall, but He is right there to catch us. No matter what, we have God on our side. He loves each of us. And He loves us right where we are. If you do not know Him as your Lord and Savior, oh, please come to Him today.
Have you ever stopped to think that we, as Christians, are friends of God? We were once His enemies (sinners), and Christ Jesus came and restored us to friendship with God, through His death on the cross. We have so much to be thankful for church. We become reconciled and saved by the blood of Christ.
Father God,
We are so thankful how Your word just comes alive in us. To know that we are Your friends through what Your only begotten Son has done on the cross just blesses our soul. To know that You love humanity so much that You gave the most immense sacrificial gift of love ever known to mankind to redeem Your people, and through their acceptance are restored to right relationship with You is just so amazing in itself. But You have done more. You call us friend. The most amazing, holy, wonderful and Only God of All Creation has called us friend and it was because of Jesus, of whom we will always sing His praises. Thank You, Lord for Your provision of restoration. Thank You for bringing fallen mankind back to right relationship with You through Jesus. Thank You for loving us and never giving up on us. Help us to be better people for Your name’s sake. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
A true friend loves, gives wise counsel, remains loyal, forgives, and promotes the other’s welfare.
