Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

james 5:16 nkjv

Temptations will come to all people. There are temptations to anger, temptations to jealousy, temptations to resentment, temptations to slander, temptations to lust, temptations to hatred, temptations to drunkenness and these are just some of them (Galatians 5:19-21). Especially Christians struggle with the flesh. But whatever the temptation is just remember that God has made a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). He is faithful. So, when the temptations come your way just give them back the word of God. Speak to yourself the truths contained in His holy book, the Bible. Find the verse(s) that apply and quote them to yourself. One I just used recently is found in 1 John 4:4; greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Because God is greater! Our God is awesome. He is so powerful.

When I was faced with the temptation of anger, I prayed and asked the Lord to help me. Then I said that verse to myself and the anger went away. We might live in the flesh, but we do not have to fulfill its ugly desires (Galatians 5:6). Let’s feed ourselves the word of God and watch Him move in our lives.

We can resist temptation when we refrain, abstain, avoid and desist from any of the garbage that comes our way. Let wisdom prevail. We can do this. It is a choice. Give in to temptation or we can persevere. God is with us (Matthew 28:20). He said He would never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Turn to Him. He is waiting to help us with His arms open wide.

Pray with me please.

Father God,
We are so thankful for Your help. You have supplied our every need. We do not have to give in to the flesh. All that we have to do is retrain our brain with the truths in Your word (Romans 12:2 & 2 Timothy 2:15), seek Your help (Deuteronomy 4:29) and speak the truth from Your word to all people including ourselves and over our situation (Proverbs 18:21 & Zechariah 8:16). No matter what we face, we know that we never have to face it alone. You are with us. You give us the power and strength that we need. We are tempted by the flesh, the world and satan (Romans 7:21-25).
When we choose to walk in Your Spirit, You give us the strength to resist temptation. When we put You first in all we do, You empower us to walk with You and not the world (John 15:19). When satan comes against us You have given us the power to resist in Jesus’ name (James 4:7). Demons run and tremble from the very name of Jesus.
What more could we ask for? You have provided it all. We run into Your arms. Thank You for being our Shelter from the storms around us. We never have to fear when we have You as our God. Praise Your holy name forever. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:9-10). Praying always and only in Jesus’ name (John 14:13). Amen.

  1. Yes, {{{Donna}}}, I am praying with you that we can “Let wisdom prevail.” I agree with you that “We can do this. It is a choice.” Lord, give us Your wisdom that we may live in love and peace. Amen!
