Mirror God’s Love

If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing. If I give all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profits me nothing.
Love suffers long and is kind; love envies not; love flaunts not itself and is not puffed up, does not behave itself improperly, seeks not its own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
Love never fails. But if there are prophecies, they shall fail; if there are tongues, they shall cease; and if there is knowledge, it shall vanish. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect comes, then that which is imperfect shall pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, and I thought as a child. But when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see as through a glass, dimly, but then, face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know, even as I also am known.
13 So now abide faith, hope, and love, these three. But the greatest of these is love.

paul-1 Corinthians 13 mev

Oh Lord,
What a powerful scripture. What a powerful song. What is our life if we don’t have love? Your word says it doesn’t matter if we can speak eloquently and, in several languages, if we don’t have love, we would only sound like a clanging gong or noisy cymbal. It doesn’t matter if we can prophesy, understand all things, and have all the faith to move mountains because if we don’t have love, we are nothing. If we give everything that we own to the poor and sacrificed our own life, yet we don’t have love, it would not profit us.
Teach us to love, Father. Help us to be patient and kind, humble, merciful, full of joy, non-self-seeking, full of truth, always hopeful, trusting and understanding. May we never give up and never lose faith. Help us to endure through every circumstance. May our love last forever showing that we are truly, wholeheartedly and completely dedicated to You. May our life, on this earth, be the proof of Your love. May we, to the best of our ability and by Your power living in us, mirror Your love to a lost and dying world. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
